    I think question 1 could be a ROUTER and a BRIDGE, because bridge can split brobcast domain in 2, and switch is a switch it’s purpose to separate yes switch layer 3 can do simple routing and it can separate vlan broadcast.

    When a collision is detected in CSMA/CD Ethernet Protocol, the first thing that occurs is that the transmitting devices emit a noise signal onto the transmission medium that is meant to JAM the transmission medium for a set period. After the JAM signal occurs, then the random back-off period occurs before re-transmission occurs. The JAM period seems to be missing from the explanations I have read here.
