Question:
You have been hired by PC Consultants Incorporated to document the layout of the network. Complete the following tasks:
Complete the network topology shown in the graphic by dragging the labels below with the appropriate router types, interface types and IP addresses to the graphic. Find the information you need by using the router console attached to the Home router.
Answer and Explanation:
First we have to find out the types of these routers to place them in correct positions by using show cdp neighbors command on HOME router:
There are 3 columns we should pay more attention to:
+ Local Intrfce (Local Interface): the interface on the device you are using “show cdp neighbors” command. In this case it is the interface of HOME router
+ Platform: the platform of neighbor device
+ Port ID: the neighbor device’s port or interface which links to the HOME router
From the exhibit, the “Local Interface”, “Platform” and “Port ID” columns, we can identify where these four routers should be placed and their corresponding associated ports
Finally, we need to identify the IP addresses of four interfaces on neighboring routers using show running-config command:
And we can easily assign corresponding ip addresses to four neighbor routers, which are on the same network with HOME router’s interfaces
Please remember in the real CCNA Exam the routers’ types, ip addresses and interfaces may be different! So make sure you understand how it works!

well i want to say the that i have failed the exam icnd1 by just 4 marks,my score was 800 exact and passing is 804,god damit!!!!!any ways i m not frustrated becoz i have done ggod in the first attempt,i want want to tell u that the exam is very easy as a piece of cake .i have used exam cram book and pass4sure version 3 latest.i failed becoz i skipped the dhcp part and sum silly mistakes in subnetting and routing.i fininshed all in 55 minutes.any ways i will re attempt on 7 again.i will give my best shot
Man I failed ICND1 again. After the first test I thought i had it this time I found this site and these sims were on both the exams except this time i know i got these correct. My second test really through me as I got a lot of questions about Frame Relay and Security. I was not prepared for these questions so make sure you over lap a little bit into ICND2 material cause i had about 5 questions relating to these subjects 2 drag and drop a sim using only show commands to detect security issues with set up on both a router and switch and 2 general questions which i thought i had. I wish they would let you know atleast which questions you got wrong cause i thought i nailed it.
Isn’t the solution wrong? 2621 and 2620 should be reversed in the diagram.

I wonder…wouldn’t it be easiest just to do a “show cdp neighbors detail” and get everything in one fell swoop?
just wondering, is there another way to solve this SIM if in case CISCO disables the “show cdp neighbors” command ?
There is no way we can solve this sim without the “show cdp neighbors” command.
This one was on my exam today, quiet easy to do once you have seen the solution.
Show CDP Neighbor and show interface has all the information to resolve this question.
Would recommend this website for all the Sims and pass4sure for the other questions – worked for me, I passed.

I need to know if when the student starts the test does receive 300 pounds? In other words the score is got from 300 to 1000?
I think if we use the command show cdp neighbors detail this question could be aswered more quiklly because this command can show the neighboor ip address!!!
Had this yesterday, only require two commands. sh cdp neighbors & sh cdp neighbors detail.
The sh cdp entry does not work.

I ran show CDP neighbor and the show ip interfaces brief (lazy!!! LOL) to get the addresses.
Yes, I should have run either show run as show ip int br does not display the subnet mask.
I already knew that the subnet mask was /24 as the answers listed had that mask already.
hmmmm, now that i see it, show cdp neighbors detail doesn’t list the subnet masks either…
The point of using only “show run” is that it demonstrates that you know subnetting, i.e. the IP of each attached device must be in the subnet of the router interface. I heard you can get marked down for using “show cdp neigh det” instead of just “show run”. This sim was on yesterdays exam for me as well, verbatim I think.
Today! I go to take the ICND1 exam!
I get 887 score in this exam!

just took my ICND 1 today and passed but on this quistion it would not take the runnuing config for the ip addresses I had to use each show interface yo get the addresses

Passed the ICND1 test today with a 874. Just trying to help out others as this site helped me. This was on the test. It was fairly easy as the only commands you need to know are the “show cdp neighbor” and “show ip interface brief” to figure out where each item goes. Good luck!

I took it yesterday, this was in the exam but using different port names, IPs & subnets.
I want to thank everyone who have contributed to this site. I passed yesterday with a score of 837. This implementation SIM question was definitely there along with DHCP (DORA) question. Also, know your configuration of SSH and Telnet as there were questions where we have to go into the router and the switch to find the exact answers pertaining to them.
Thanks to all who have contributed to this site, passed today with 900, this was in the exam. I cannot remember if the IP’s, names or devices were the same but the procedure to complete the task is correct.
Hi, Thanks every one I pass the exam today happy happy day, hading towards ICND2 I passed the exam with good numbers only one section shows low number “administrator tasks required for WAN” but thanks still pass with good numbers, sub netting is the key, GNS3 is best for practice, this question was in exam + DORA+HOT SPOT and also I used the subnet chart in the exam 17/ 18 19 20 21 22 23 24

very help full chart but I will advice you to do it in the very beginning of the exam not before because according to there term and condition you should not write any thing on the sheet before exam and it will not take more then 30 sec but very help full also let you know some questions are tricky and also one test let of 5 question was difficult never see before but over all exam was not too bad and I am glade I made it in first attempt.

Important Advice Subnet Subnet Subnet learn subnetting with practise and try to solve the subnet qts just by looking at the netmask.Now Looking forward to ICND2.

passed with 920 today. This sim was on it. IPs were different and routers/interface placements were scrambled. Its an easy sim but if you just memories the answers here you will fail.

I got this sim today, most of the drag and drops(as is) i think a subnetting question was in there and like 2 wireless questions…………..I passed 837/1000 , This site helped alot about 5 – 6 questions were from here. Also choose your study material carefully as some book reference certain things differently and it can throw you off course. Personally, I didn’t study as hard as i should have, it’s not an impossible exam. Just read the question carefully and apply some lagic.

it would be better for you to build it yourself.
new topology, add those 5 routers, connect them, set the IPs, maybe add some routing to your network.
then use “show cdp neighbor” to solve the problem yourself

Guyz Dnt freak ICND1 is a piece of cake, jus practise as many questions and master subnetting and you will be fine!!
Agreed, subnetting was the ‘hardest’ concept to master but finally got my times down to roughly 30sec, everything else was very basic. Had the same Q w/ diff IPs

@9tut, just want to confirm with you regarding the interface layout cause I saw this sim on another practice site and they had the interfaces laid out differently. They had fa0/0 attached to fa0/0 and fa0/1 attached to fa0/1—didn’t seem correct but I’d rather confirm than go into my exam thinking it was right. So the way you have it is the correct way?

Hey guys I had this one on my exam on Friday. I passed with 887 points. I highly recommend using how2pass. It covered most of the questions I got in the exam. I also got asked a few questions about the source mac, dest mac, source ip, dest ip as it enter and exits different interfaces on different switches and routers. Know that very well. The source and destination IP always stay the same, it is the MAC source and dest addresses that change, depending on the topology.
Alongside 9tut and how2pass, I used Chris Bryant Train Signal, http://www.subnet192.com for subnetting practice and also did a few exams from testking.
Anyway thanks 9tut, on to ICND2.
Passed my icnd1 today with 925 / 1000 this sim was there and a couple of subnetting questions. Study hard and it looks easy.
Passed my ICND1 yesterday, this lab came up. Got it 100% thank you 9tut!!
First of all, the two routers 2621 and 2620 should not be switched like it was suggested in an earlier comment, that person was looking at the port number and not the direct connection.
Second of all, be aware that the exam that you take could be modified, because I had this simlab on my exam and I expected to use port “S0″ and when I looked at the show cdp command it showed port “E0″ so the moral of the story is, even though it’s nice to be able to remember some answer, you still have to double check to make sure. I believe that was the difference in my passing this time.
Is there a method to solving the lab sims,as in the things I should be doing 1st,2nd 3rd ect.?

why didn’t you use “sh ip int brief” command to show the local interfaces ip’s instead ?
“show interface” will give the mask as well as “show run”
