    @xallax
    Thanks, but I know all you told me=).
    I asked you about another.
    BP is not Backup port is STP – it is BLOCKED Port. What difference between Blocked port in STP and Alternate Port in RSTP?

    9tut tutorial don’t answer to my questions about “How we elect designated ports in STP and RSTP”? Wendell Odom writes that we compare path costs of switches to Root bridge when we elect designated port in the segment for STP. Switch with the lower path cost to Root will become Designated switch to the segment and its port will become DESIGNATED.
    Do you agree with this statement?

    And now about RSTP. Question 7 http://www.9tut.com/ccna-stp-questions
    In this case, fa0/2 will become designated port for the segment because SW A has lower MAC than SW B. But I’ve read in http://www.9tut.com/rapid-spanning-tree-protocol-rstp-tutorial:
    The decision process involves the following parameters inside the BPDU:

    * Lowest path cost to the Root
    * Lowest Sender Bridge ID (BID)
    * Lowest Port ID

    As you see path cost to the Root is PRIMERY criteria for electing designated port to the segment. Therefore, Gi0/2 of SW B will become DESIGNATED port because its cost to the Root equals to 8 while cost of SW A equals to 19. Where is mistake?!

    As you see either of rules is wrong. Should we use “Lowest path cost to the Root” or “Lowest Sender Bridge ID (BID)”?

    I repeat my question one more time: Is there a difference between the algorithm determine the designated port in the segment for STP and RSTP?
    And what about “port-priority” ? =)
    Thanks.

    I think our discussion will be too long. If you don’t mind, we can discuss e.g. through Skype or ICQ. My nick in Skype is magicgoodwin64
    Thanks.

    @goodwin
    added you on skype πŸ™‚
    please take into consideration that there are Fa (fast ethernet) ports and Gi (gigabit ethernet) ports
    on a Fa link the cost is 19, on a Gi link the cost is 4, on 10 Gi is 2.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanning_Tree_Protocol#Data_rate_and_STP_path_cost

    SwA Fa0/2 will actually be blocking

    there was an OSPF scenario

    Which is True about ACL interfaces?
    a- ACL is configured on one interface only
    b- More than one ACL can be Configured
    The rest of the questions are from 9tut and 204 question found on exam collection site

    @ben
    you should be good to go for the exam as long as you score over 950 on the practice questions and as long as you are able to answer the subnet quiz questions in less than 20 seconds.

    @ben @homerj
    best of luck!

    April 12th, 2012

    Where are most of you folks from that you can re-take the exam in a day or two after your first failed attempt? Where I live, exam schedules are completely filled a month out. Therefore it is never possible to retake the exam in a day or two even in a week. Wish I have that flexibility here.

  16. Kevester
    April 12th, 2012

    @9tut
    Just passed with 832 so scrapped in by 7 points. I would not have passed without 9tut, many thanks. I studied this site, the Wendell Odom book, 31 days before CCNA and also went through the latest 640-816 dump from examcollection.

    My opinion differs to IrishDave, I think I would go for the 1 CCNA exam if I had my way over. You still need to know all the ICND1 pretty much anyway. Guess there are a few chapters you can forget but not a lot.

    Today I got the:Hotspot Frame -relay lab sim and VTP Configuration Sim. After that questions on most subjects, OSPF, STP, VLAN, good few IPv6. Ran out of time in the end, rushed last 10 questions.

    Question, do I need to apply for a paper cert or will it just get delivered ?

  17. Ayman
    April 12th, 2012

    @Kevester
    I think it is just delivered

    @xallax

    how come the frame relay question is on the ccna website and not on either icnd1 or icnd2 website? Also do questions from icnd1 come for the icnd2 exam? Thanks for your help

  19. xallax
    April 13th, 2012

    @anonymous
    frame-relay is on the ICND2 curricula. some questions that appear on the CCNA exam will show up on the ICND1 or ICND2 exams as well because CCNA = ICND1+ICND2. makes sense.

    will you see ICND1-related questions on the ICND2 exam? most likely not as they focus on different topics.

    check http://www.9tut.com for CCNA training. it is an invaluable resource πŸ™‚

    anyone know wat labs will be on icnd1??

  23. Thanks 9tut
    April 14th, 2012

    Passed ICND 1 & 2
    My advice is you need to use at least 3 sources to study from. 9tut is one good one, and I also used Odom’s books and Jeremy’s CBT Nuggets are excellent.
    You cannot pass these exams by memorizing dumps. Don’t even bother. You have to look at the questions in the dumps and understand all of the concepts.
    Practice practice practice.

  24. Thanks 9tut
    April 14th, 2012

    @Ben

    You get some limited help – everything you need will be provided. If you don’t find what you are looking for, try think of a different way to find the information

    e.g you should know at least 2 or even 3 different ways to learn the ip address and mask of an interface…
    1) show run
    2) show ip int br
    3) show ip int s0/0

    In this case “show run” and “show start” will probably be disabled for that question…

    @ thanks 9tut

    thank you, for my studies I used Train signal with Chris Bryant, I used 9tut both ccna and icnd2 website, audio pods and some reading here and there especially the tutoials on this website, pass4sure, ciscovce.com questions, dumps from exam collection and of course packet tracer. Also congratulations on your successful completion of both exams! I hope that I can say the same for myself on Monday

    April 14th, 2012

    Passed with 888. Thanks 9tut and the last dump examp. if you study on this site and last dump, most likely you will pass the exam. Most of the questions on the exam are on here. simlap, I got frame relay and switches. There are two drag-n-drop that are not on here, something about the password example, vty 0 4, enable password, console password….(don’t remeber the rest). Another one is about frame relay. Again, if you got those two things cover, you will doing just fine.

  33. SebastianFlux
    April 17th, 2012

    passed ICND2 today with 888. latest dumps from examcollection.com and 9tut.net were dead on for the exam. Got the VTP sim, Frame-relay sim. If you memorize this site and the dumps you are crystal. To learn it just do the sims on this site and examcollect over and over and you will not only know how to do it, but will breeze the test.

  34. @mtk
    April 19th, 2012

    I failed ICND2 exam first time with 821/825 and passed today with 960/825. I think that if we change the order of dragging (drag&drop question) in different order we get less points. I think if we correct the answer in the exam which was wrong in the dump, we will not get credit for that question. I got totally different questions in the second exam except VTP configuration.

    I agree with Paul there are good teachers and there is crap. Some of the eplpoe I have worked with over the years (I have been teaching for years) I would not employ! It was only this morning that I was discussing which of my colleagues I would employ 2 out of the 12 max.Just because someone is an expert at something does not mean they can teach it. I remember when i was doing my degree we had research assistant take the analysis techniques (maths) class. She knew what she was talking about but couldn’t teach it to save her life.I also agree with Roberto it is better to learn from someone who is doing it/has done it rather than some academic. Another example, the first question i asked my Business Skills tutor was whether he had ever run his own business No. How could he teach me anything? From books!i don’t want to blow my own trumpet but I know i can get the best from my students. And the reason I am doing the CCNP and want to get into Contracting is to give me enough credibility & real-world skills to teach the bloody thing one day in the not too distant future.

    Is there any way all these comments could be compiled into a PDF doc each month (and each months info added to the previous month’s info, so it’s a running “total” of all the comments)?

    It would certainly beat scrolling through pages and pages of comments. Not sure how time consuming that might be for the site owner, but would be MUCH appreciated πŸ™‚

    3 x routers connected via serial links each router connected to a switch off of each switch there was a network each network was of a different size ie 8 hosts 32 hosts 64 hosts. One of the serial links had an IP associated with it. Β

    The question was a drag and drop you had to use Vlsm to correctly work out witch address from the list went were. Ip subnet-zero is configured and you must allow for network growth.

    The serial link IP that was given was 192.168 .33.20X

    It was all for the 192.168.33.0 network there were 2x/30 ip addresses.

    For me out of all the questions this took the longest.

    theres a question i see on a dump that i need a explaination to…..

    Question: How will a router handle a packet destined to 192.0.2.156?

    a: the router will drop it
    b: router will return packet to source
    c: forward out S2
    d: Fwd: out either S0 or S1

    output:
    #Show ip route
    gateway of last resort is 192.168.4.1 to network 0.0.0.0

    10.0.0.0/24 is subnetted, 3 subnets
    C 10.0.2.0 is directly connected, E1
    D 10.0.3.0[90/2195456] via 192.168.1.2, S0
    D 10.0.4.0[90/2195456] via 192.168.3.1, S1
    C 192.168.1.0/24 is D. connected, S0
    D 192.168.2.0/24[90/2195456] via 192.168.1.2, S0
    [90/2195456] via 192.168.3.1, S1
    C 192.168.3.0/24 is D. Conn, S1
    C 192.168.4.0/24 is D. Conn, S2

    The IP 192.0.2.156 is not listed in the routing table, therefore it will be forwarded to the default gateway. We can see that the default gateway is 192.168.4.1 but it does not specify an interface. However if you look at the routing table again, we can see the subnet 192.168.4.0/24 is directly connected on S2. Therefore, the packet will be forwarded out S2, making the answer C.

    Yeh Jbag is right, also when you look at the routing table you’ll see a GATEWAY OF LAST RESORT is set. Also you’ll notice Cisco doesn’t give you the full routing table it’s missing a line. The Default route is (IP ROUTE 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Serial 0/0/2). This specifies that all packets transmitted even beginning with (192) will be forwarded out S2. Default routes catch everything doesn’t care what it is a building, dump truck, and fat person LOL hopes this helps. Any address can access S2, because a GATEWAY OF LAST RESORT is set. πŸ™‚

    Are there any questions about frame relay global addressing? I doubt it’s used much anymore.

    Am I correct that the ICND2 test has not changed since 2010? Cisco uses the same pool of questions and just randomly chooses the questions?
