    @TrickedbyCisco

That’s what happens when you study only dumps and example test material, and don’t really try to understand the Internetworking concepts that are behind the dumps and examples. If you somehow pass the CCNA exams without understanding Internetworking and data communications concepts, you will FAIL in the workplace and marketplace.

You should have titled your post,
    “TrickedByMyselfThatICouldBecomeaCCNAWithoutLearningInternetworking”!

Just passed 604-816 today. Had the questions shown on this site, not 200-102. PASSED 920/1000. I am renewed CCNA yay. I passed back in 2008, but it expires in 3 years ya know. On to CCNP! I had VTP sim and the Frame Relay hotspot sim. OSPF 4-questions simlet, IPv6, the Heavydump mentioned here earlier helped tremendously!! I paid $15 for the Mac version of VCE player, totally worth it. Also used IT University Groupon package for $99 for one year. It was sorta helpful in learning concepts. And 9tut of course! Also brain dumps. I’m in shock now worked so hard so long what do I do now? The BAD part is this CCNA cost me about $900 with exam fees, it u lessons, hotel room, bleah!!!

Passed ICND 2 640-816. The exam was rather… easy. If you just go over all the questions on 9tut and the heavymod dump, the actual exam is like deja vu. You’ve seen it, and already know the answer even before reading the question… yawn. I wasn’t even excited after finishing the exam, because I already knew that I would easily pass before taking it. A few new questions that were already mentioned by others but if you get all the other questions correct, you will EASILY pass this exam with 900+. Just go over all questions and make sure that you understand the answers. For the sims, if you can imagine the whole sim in your head, the actual sim is a walk in the park. I studied about 1-2 weeks, and got 97x today. CCNA is a lot to study, but none of the material is actually hard. I was hoping for more sims in the exam, but I got the same as everyone… yawn. If you’re struggling with CCNA material, how are you going to become a CCIE? So don’t panic, relax, and just go pass the exam with great ease.

@Badman UK: thanks! I was freaked about the “Frame-relay SIM.” It’s really just a hotspot that you have to run two diagnostic commands for. The Heavymod dump covers it.

Wait…. So if I understand correctly, for the 640-816 ICND2 exam, as far as Sims go, everyone is getting the VTP, Frame Relay (more of a hotspot turned Sim), and maybe for a select few the OSPF sim.

Is that correct? So while in the latest dump there are other labs for EIGRP, Show, NAT, ACL, and CLI labs in truth NO ONE is getting those labs?

Sounds like an easy test if that’s the case…

Passed today 640-816 with 846/1000. Frame Relay, VTP config using the last available host. Had OSPF SIM very easy with 4 questions. Understand the concepts. IPV6 caught me off guard a little bit. Study this complete site, subnet quick to complete VTP SIM and relax if you understand the concepts. 4 Drag and drops, Split Horizon, Access-list, VLSM and NAT. Thanks 9tut!!!! CCNP Where we come….

Passed INCD2 with a perfect score. I got the same Sims as Cisco_rookie. One of the frame relay SIM questions almost got me when it asked for a route. Just remember to run a show ip route to get the route and then identify the dlci from the show frame relay map command. This site is very valuable to fill in the gaps. Thanks 9tut for helping me understand some of the concepts.

scored 972 today. With that I made both CCNA and CCNP. I took the CCNP exams end of last year. Took ICND1 a few months ago and realized last week that the 640 series retires next week so I spent the weekend with a premium 9tut account and the HeavyMod file. For guys who’ve been doing this for more than a decade, start with the HeavyMod and sit the first 4 exams as if you’re taking the exam. Don’t check your answers, lock the kids out of the house, etc. If you’ve been doing any real routing, switch, etc. for any length of time, you’ll score in the high 700s or low 800s without any studying. If so, review the failed answers on your tests, study the sims, simlets, and drag and drops, and you’re good for ICND2 in a couple days.

Thanks for the tut folks for maintaining this website, I hope half these comment authors have the guts to skip a starbucks or two and throw some dough your way. If you’re working and don’t contribute, I encourage you to do so. These guys helped me get my CCNA and CCNP studying just a few days for each test… hell that’s got to be worth something.

If you’re slugging out these exams in the hopes of a better job/life I wish you all the encouragement in the world. Remember, no amount of remembering test scores is going to get you the job. I got my first job years ago because I went into the interview and talked about all the cool stuff I was doing with VPN, Firewalling, etc. If you want a job, get a ton or RAM in your computer and then run GNS3 and VMWare with some stripped down open bsd install (no GUI). In 6 months you’ll have more useable knowledge than most guys after a few years on the job.

    Good luck!

  15. _ddy
    September 23rd, 2013

For the rest of you, I had the same old stuff everybody else is talking about. VTP and Frame-relay (simlet?). Some drag and drops: ACL, OSPF vs. EIGRP, Hotspot, etc.). 80% of my questions were in the first 4 HeavyMod exams. (a,b,c,and d).

If you don’t learn anything else, learn how to quickly calculate network and broadcast from any IP/mask. Then learn how to quickly increment/decrement up through the networks. I bet you save 15 minutes and score an extra 100 points just by doing that one step.

Not just for the test, but this will make you’re life a million times easier when you’re doing the job and give you a tangible skill that 95% of your coworkers won’t have. Good luck!!!

I have a questions: An organization is concerned that too many employees are wasting company time accessing the Internet. Which access list statement would stop World Wide Web access for employees on the range of subnets from 172.16.8.0/24 to 172.16.11.0/24?

    A. access-list 103 deny http 172.16.8.0 0.0.7.255 any

    B. access-list 103 deny tcp 172.16.8.0 0.0.11.255 any eq 80

    C. access-list 103 deny tcp 172.16.8.0 0.0.0.3 any eq 80

    D. access-list 103 deny tcp 172.16.8.0 0.0.3.255 any eq 80

    E. access-list 103 deny tcp any 172.16.8.0 0.0.3.255 eq 80

the answer is C, but i don’t know how they got that. Please help.

    I passed !!! today I had both ICND1 & ICND2, didn’t get very high scores but A Pass is a Pass v(^_^)v

ICND1 had many questions from here as well from the VCE’s , although some of them had different wording in order to get a different answer so READ the questions twice!

ICND2 was a little harder, less time compared to ICND1 and the simlets I had were the VTP and the Frame Relay , couple of the questions were different in them as compared to the simlets in here so make sure you practice and practice.

    Good luck to everyone !!!

  18. elito
    September 24th, 2013

    @Gmose – the answer is D – as you need to limit only 4 subnets/networks – which that becomes a 255.255.252.0 subnet mask – 0.0.3.255 wc.

  19. elito
    September 24th, 2013

@Gmose – remember, sometimes not all the answers on the dumps are correct.. that answer C is obviously wrong because, we know from the original networks is a 172.16.8 – 11.0 /24 so automatically, you know that theres a 255 in the WC on the last octet – because we’re only “caring” about 172.16.8 – 11 and don’t care for the last octet (the hosts)

I need help. I have tried 3 times without passing the 640-816. My first attempt I got 762, second I scored 790 and third 762.

I really wish to pass with this older version, so I need help. One area I am having difficulty with is the five multiple-choice questions with scenario and topology type. Is there anywhere I can practice before I take it again by this week Friday, September 27, 2013?

    Many thanks.

  21. elito
    September 24th, 2013

@TC – omg i feel your pain. took me 3 shots too – but should’ve passed on the 2nd – was only off by a question. when you say scenario/topology type – are you referring to the simulations? and yes if you’ll study the questions on this site and practice on heavymod dumps you’ll be fine. but what you want is to get familiar with the sims/commands – and the most popular sim that tends to come up for the 816 is the frame-relay and VTP sim. the VTP sim is availiable here to dl and practice on packetracer so that you can get used to the commands..good luck to you this friday.

failed on 3rd attempt, on this SIM (VTP) i got a weird error, something about the “default-gateway command not being avilable at this time”, it took me a while to get it to accept, it asked for the first aval ip, the default gateway was 192.168.111.1 the first switch was .2 so i used .3, not sure how i failed studied for months, pass Heaveymod everytime, studied 9tut, scored %67 on the “Config and verify vlans”. 100% on implemnt IP, 33% on ACL which i new was my weakness.. I guess i have to take the new icnd2

  35. SS
    September 26th, 2013

That’s unfortunate optimistic-tester1. All the questions I got in my exam can be found in heavymod’s set and 9tut. You should be getting 100% on all 271 questions on heavymod and on this site. If you can’t get 100% (or close enough) after covering all the questions twice, then you don’t know the material well enough. Catch up on your ACL info and NAT if you need to, as you will need those skills on the job and there’s no point getting your certification if you can’t do what’s covered in the curriculum.

That “command not available” notification pops up in the simulations if you haven’t done the command properly. Perhaps it was an error like you said, but the best thing to do if you get that notification on a command that you know you need to use is to take a step back and check that you are inputting it correctly. When I first stared my sim I got it because I got over excited and used ip default-gateway from enable mode rather than config mode. Be sure that you are in the right mode and have the correct spelling and any dashes that are needed. Also be sure you have “ip” in front of that specific command. For sims in general it is good idea to write a quick checklist on your erasable board as soon as you start to remind you to do things such as “no shutdown” and “copy run start” in all your sims.

Good luck on the new exam. Just make sure you know the material, use the dumps to check that you know it – be sure that you understand why the answers are what they are and that you could answer a similar question of the same style – and get some practice on real equipment or GNS3. If you can do that and you can score perfectly on the dumps then you should be able to get 90%+ on the exam fairly easily.

    September 27th, 2013

Yes, BCham88, there are. There are several port security questions, mainly revolving around sticky mac addresses and maximum mac addresses.

The first question I got was the one that says there is a conference room and with 3 switchports but sometimes people attach hubs to them to connect more devices. How would you prevent the use of hubs? The answer is to use the port-security maximum 1 command so that only 1 mac can be associated with a port at a time.

There are 1 or 2 other port security type questions, a few cable related ones, and a few layer questions such as what layer does PPP operate at, and which layer are these problems associated with. They’re all in heavymod’s dump.

passed with 832 of 825. yikes. had the VTP sim where you set the ip, default-gateway, domain and mode. OSPF simlet where you answer 5 questions about OSPF. That one showed a topology and asked several questions that are in the OSPF section of this site. Got the frame-relay sim where you have to do a show frame-relay map and show ip route to answer the questions. there were about 5 questions on Nat so make sure to review the multiple choice questions here and on heavmod. My recommendation would be to know everything on this site and be confident with the heavmod dump. Also, the choices are in a different order than on the dumps so that can throw you a bit. Good luck everyone.

  52. Evans@254
    September 27th, 2013

I thank God i passed with 958(640-816). 9tut is very relevant… I had the vtp and frame relay sims. In the vtp sim the show running-config in the existing switch showed that the switch had not been configured with any ip address. Therefore i used the show interface vlan1 which showed only the ip address and not the default gateway.
For the ip address the first available ip address was to be used, but the default gateway was not specified and had not beeen configured on the existing switch so i used the last available ip address in the subnet.
For the frame relay sim only the show frame-relay map command gave what is needed to answer the asked 4 qsns.
The other qsns were basically fom heavymod dumps. My advice is to go through those qsns repeatedly and understand the concepts.
All the best for those preparing for these exams…

    @Racko
Yes the answer is 4 …because router1 int f0/1.1 and f0/1.2 are subinterfaces with there own ip addresses ..therefore ip nat inside will need to be configure on each subinterface. Be careful with this question which can be easily marked wrong ,if you fly through the exhibit and just notice the physical connections which idealy looks like the answer would be 3

Just thought I would say that I passed ICND2 yesterday with a 972. I studied from 9tut, CBT Nuggets, Cisco press book and HeavyMod.

On the exam I had the VTP Labsim and also the Frame-Relay Sim. I had seen all questions from this site and HeavyMod except for one where it was an OSPF testlet where you have to answer how many routes R1 would learn.

Had questions on VLAN, IPV6, EIGRP, had the drag n drop with poison reverse, split horizon, holddown timers and LSA. There was also questions where you had to work out that links on the end of serial interface where not in the same network.

Good luck to all who are trying to pass before the end of the month!

I passed today! I saw a lot of ipv6, flow control, acls, configuring multi point and sub interfaces. I had an Show config style eigrp lab that i didn’t see on here. It was similar to the CCNA EIGRP LAB but it had another router and asked questions about routing and which networks each was advertising. Good luck everyone!

Had my ICND 2 today, cleared.., there was one set of q’s i hadn’t seen in 9tut, regarding OSPF where they talk about hello packets being xchngd b/n R3-R4 router, they also asked, how many networks would you see in the routing table (which was not part of 9tut), so make sure you understand concepts well.. Good luck!

Passed ICND2 last weekend, enjoying my week off before i start down the CCNA Voice/CCNP Voice path.

My tip to anyone going on to do the new ICND2 exam, look at teh exam questions on the website, understand them and read up on ones you dont. do as many vce dumps as possible as you will eventually see the same type of questions, again practice and read up on areas you struggle on.

You need to practice the labs, packet tracer is your friend so use it if you dont have the equipment. practice and practice. spend 2 – 4 weeks doing this every night and you will nail it. good luck.

Passed today. 20% of the test was Netflow, SNMP, HSRP, etc. You should have a good basic understanding off what these do for you as well as how to configure them. There were no config questions, however if you understand how to configure, the questions will be no problem.
Had a 5 router EIGRP sim. No configuration, just show run and show up route to answer the questions. There was one question that had two answers, but it didn’t say select two.
I had several drag and drop, the frame relay sim (they changed DLCIs and router names) and I think that was it.

Thanks for all of your help on the ICND 1 and 2. I passed the INCD2 200-101 with a score of 975/1000 on 1/16/2014. I will defently donate to this website. It is a great resourse and i hope you can keep this site up. A lot of the exam questions come from this site. My best advice is to memorize all of the info here. The new exam is 53 question in 70-75 mintues. You need to move quickly through the multiple choice questions. Do not spend more than 3-5 seconds on each of them. Spend the time on the drag & drop and the simluator questions if you want to get throught the exam in the a loted time.
