This is Sigo. My score was 802. Sims, VTP and Frame Relay. LOTS of Drag and Drops. Some not on this site. Questions were fair. Believe it or not, the drag and drops I think were the ones that did me in. I am taking it again on Fri. I would like to know if the Sims and questions change or just question. Any information will be appreciated.

    Hi 9tut,

I have schedule my ICND2 exam on 24/02 and would like to know if the question have changed or if the drag&drop have changed as I’ve heard from colleges they will change.

Pls let me know via email -jjames@datec.com.pg

    Thanks

Hi All, I am sitting the ICND2 exam next month and have a question about the sims. For the ICND2 exam, can I expect to only see the VTP, NAT and/or OSPF sims on the exam?

I would’ve thought an EIGRP and Access-list sim would be possible questions also.
    Thanks

I would just like to say thankyou to 9tut and all who are involved, including all those who contribute to the boards. I passed today (2nd attempt) with 916. I would say about 40% of the questions were from here but the rest were easily understood using all the information from this site alone. In addition i used Wendell Odom, Exam Cram Series by Jeremy Ciora and Valentine Whitaker, CBC nuggets and a very very very patient Wife who’s not seen me properly for the best part of 2 months as i’ve been locking myself in the study room everyevening after work.

The important bit here is understading. As long as you understand the concepts behind all the questions on this site, you should be able to pass. There were some questions that i quite frankly had no clue about and even one question that was very difficult to read as it wasnt clear enough (such is the cisco way)

Other than to tell you what labs i had, i will not be able to give you any questions other than one. I was being watched the whole time by an invigilator so was not able to take away any notes i’d made.

The question i recall refered to Power-cycles. Something i’ve not touched upon before. Please check this link for Power-cycle info. Please pay attention to “show context” and “console Log” http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/iad/ps397/products_tech_note09186a00800b4447.shtml

Sorry thats the only question that really stood out that i can remember.

My labs were VTP and OSPF, simlets were Frame-Relay, EIGRP and RIP2. I had 43 questions to complete in 75 minutes. I finished with 4 minutes to spare. Now i can look forward to the summer i was going to have last year. Once again thankyou everyone for your contribution and good luck with your own exams.

ICND2 scheduled for 2/28, too bad I just found out about this site a few days ago, let’s see how it goes….

Passed ICDN2 today with a score of 888. This site was really helpful. I got the VTP and OSPF Sims, Frame-Relay and EIGRP simlets. Couple of questions on IPv6, eigrp, ospf, ripv2. If study and understand the concepts of questions on icdn2 and ccna site you will be fine. For preparation i used 9tut, Steve Mcquerry icdn2 book and certexam question by xalax. I want to thank everybody who have contributed to this site in one way all the other and good luck to those waiting to take the exam.
Now i am trying to decide wether to go for CCNP or do CCNA security first, Any advise?

Roel, if there is an area i can truly recommend for you with only a few days left is, if you are not confident with labs, use he lab execises in ICND2 and CCNA. Notice that some of them have links to packet tracer labs. These are very useful and are accurate to the layout of the exam material. Just remember that on the day, certain details may change like ip address, first-last-first available ip address, gateway etc.

SOLOMON> Congratulations. Feels great doesnt it.

Iā€™m confused by this which is in Odoms book on pg 385: http://i.imgur.com/Oogaw.png

Why is the route through C chosen once the bw is set to 64. The Route straight to A from B still has the lowest metric (without going into the deep maths) 64 compared to 1544+1544 = 3088 ?

Took my exam today and have to do it again. Had the VTP sim and I did everything that I thought had to be done. Did the show vtp-status which I found the domain name. Wrote it down and when it was time to put it in I received a “DOMAIN NAME ALREADY INSTALLED” which sought of confused me. Anyone have any idea why that happened? Besides that, allot of ACL, IPV6, DISTANCE VECTOR & LINK STATE QUESTIONS. STUDY STUDY STUDY SOME MORE.

Just got back from testing, another FAIL, really starting to get pissed off about all this, I got a 748, I have taken CCNA four times, all failed, first time first ccna i got a 819 needing a 825 to pass. So, i decided to split it, icnd1 i passed first time, icnd2 i just failed for the second time… Time is absolute critical.. If your lab doesnt work right away, you dont have time to troubleshoot, you might as well skip. I had about 11 questions left with 8min to do them, and i pretty much skipped 8 out of those 11… at the beginning, write on your paper a time chart, 4 sections 75min total time and what question you should be on at what time.. I actually felt good about the test too.. which pisses me off even more… 2 days rest, then back to these damn books.. Oh, this site is great, the VTP sim is the same lab i got.. got it working in 2sec. got a weird question i Definitely didnt know, the ipv6 address RIPng uses to communicate, since i knew 224.0.0.9 is the ipv4 i think i chose FE004::09 or something like that.. i need to research that. anyway… Hope all you have better luck than I do..

  23. Cisco_CCNA
    February 24th, 2012

    Had these

    VTP SIM
    Frame-relay testlet 4 questions 3 of them same as 9tut 1 different
    pick link-local IP6 address.
drag and drop OSPF vs EIGRP (same as 9tut)
drag and drop ACL what three ip addresses will be permitted what 2 denied (not on 9tut)
    CCNA switch questions Q#2
Some weird ospf testlet 4 questions choose router ID etc….(not on 9tut)
CCNA Drag and Drop 3 question #1

I would estimate that less than 40% of my questions were exacly like the ones on 9tut
(the vtp sim was…. just different ip) I had to go throught the process of elimnation to get
    answer on multiple choice.

While 9TUT is extremely valuable for practice (great for sims) and to test your knowledge, you better do your
    homework and learn the concepts.

I used CBT Nuggets…Wendell…And the TUT!

Now to decide what to do next, more cisco maybe CCNP? or start Microsoft certs?

    Opinions????

I had question #6 under incnd2 STP questions

I had a question about VTP modes it was a choose 2 answers…. one was transparent mode passes updates to other switches..the second one i choose was when a client switch boots up it sends out discovery packet looking for servers ??? not sure if it was right.

2 questions about EIGRP feasable successor routes I think one was from CCNA site and the other one didn’t look familar

Had an auto-summary causing problems on a discontinious network question???????

Sorry wish my memory was better, good luck to all and thanks a million 9TUT and xallax you do a great job

Thanks for the advice, I’ve really enjoyed learning the cisco stuff, what is the next step if I decide to do the CCNP cert? It took me 4-5 months of hard core study to get through the ICND1 and ICND2 test, how long do you anticipate it would take to get through CCNP?
What do you think is more dificult Microsoft cert test or Cisco test?

    Thanks again

  34. Sys_Admin
    February 26th, 2012

Cisco_CCNA I can tell you from experience that Cisco Exams are much harder than Microsofts. The first MS exam I took I had very little experience with and passed it without much study. The first Cisco Exam I took I had about 2 years experience and 3 months of study with 4 different types of material and just barely passed it.

Microsoft Exams are multiple answer type questions that are quite easy to narrow down as 1 or 2 have nothing to do with the problem in general. There is very little configuration type questions, but there are drag and drops.

Good luck in your studies and your career path. It is very rewarding in the end.

    February 27th, 2012

Passed barley today with an 846, big thanks to the guidance and feedback from this site and Odems book. I had the Frame Relay Sim from this site, and thats about it. Many new IPv6 questions. you must know how to recognize a link-local address (always starts with FE80) Also know the beneifts that IPv6 has over IPv4 (NAT and No More Broadcasts). Lots of new OSPF questions, 1 in which you had to summarize all the networks and determine how many OSPF routes would be in the routing table. ACL questions were the hardest yet. Overall know the concepts and read the questions carefully.

    cheers and onto CCNA Voice.

@RouteKing, good move going towards Voice, its a hot item right now and pays very well. Congrats on passing too. @jn3, I’m in the same boat, 2nd failure last week and it’s frustrating as hell. Lets keep to it and make cisco our bitch. @xallax I think i am going to grab your practice q’s, great price for them.. I really wish you could go back a question if need be, when you’re trying to hurry, i make dumb mistakes and I keep running out of time.. @roel09 26min LEFT!!! That’s insane, last test had about 8min left for the last 11 questions.. I have always been a.d.d and take adderall as an adult and time and test is my Achilles heel.

Good luck all, hopefully yours is WAY better than mine..

Passed the exam today with a score of 917, as I said above I had done loads of study and knew all the concepts but I must say it does not matter how well you know the concepts there are always some questions that are difficult to understand, or the correct option is vague so going through questions in the dumps helps, 70% of the questions that came up were on here or in the latests dumps, the sims were VLANs and Frame relay the same that are on here and there was an OSPF lab that was not on here but was not difficult as I knew the concepts, the thing that nearly got me was that there were maybe 3 questions that were from the ICND 1 part of the course, I hadnt studied these for a few months so these were difficult to remember.

This site is by far the best on the web for CCNA and ICND study as not only does it give questions but also gives really good explanations which helps in understanding the concepts.

Passed ICND2 today . Got below qs I like to share with you:
1: Check chasis serial no. using a: show inventory, b: show diag other options are not correct.
2: IPv6 tunnel used by host, I selected Teredo tunneling.
3: Benefits of transition to IPv6 I selected a: no need for NAT, b: no broadcasts, autoconfiguration was also there but it is not a benefit.
4: A Q to select link local address.
5: Difference between point-to-point and multipoint frame-relay subinterfaces.
6: Frame relay FECN, BECN and DE.
7: How to troubleshoot chap authentication I selected debug ppp authentication.
8: Change ospf load balancing options I selected a: ip ospf cost b: bandwidth commands.
9: Dynamic ACL is used to allow a user to access an Enterprise network after authentication.
10: Single Lab to configure a switch for management address, default gateway and for vtp client.
Other questions from 9tut sims and latest dumps.
The NAT question is very tricky it uses inside nat on 2 interfaces and outside on 1 on a router connected to 2 fast ethernet and 1 serial. There is both static and dynamic nat in the config.

Just failed ICND2 with a score of 750. I’ll report my experience while it’s fresh in my mind.
The Sim I got was VTP related but it wasn’t straight forward at all, it required you to go into the router and dig for configurations from existing or adjacent routers , this requires time and time was my biggest enemy.
The other thing they beat me up on was route overlapping, there has to be a faster way to do this other than writing out zero’s for octets.
The other thing was ACL’s almost every ACL question involved a good bit of subnetting, which again involved time. There was almost nothing in there about switching concepts so all of the studying I did here on switching scenarios did not help me.
And lastly there was a fair bit of IPv6, I think 4 or 5 out of the 43 questions were IPv6.

  63. Anonymous
    February 29th, 2012

    @kevin

    sorry 4 u buddy…

    i advice you

1.) practice subnetting through subnettingquestions.com and become fast, identifyng contents of subnet by just looking on number within 4-5 seconds. and never use paper, pen to solve it

2.) and study all books, material well enough with a purpose to learn, not to just pass exam. use exam passing material like 9tut website, dumbs etc 1 week before the exam to prepare well enough with exam perspective. YOU WILL SURELY PASS….anyways, all the best for next attempt..gud luck bro.

  64. Joe

I dont know if anyone can answer for sure, but are the test questions predetermined from the time you start, or is it configured or programmed to alter the questions toward a certain topic if the test taker is giving wrong answers to a topic. In other words, I miss an acl question or two, so I get more acl questions? Just curious, because I have heard of such “interactive test” formats.

just failed today 818 needed 825 to pass!
my problem areas were NAT/ACL implementation and VLAN/trunking
for the VLAN stuff, really get to know RSTP and PVRSTP. you can almost forget about STP. understand all the terminology and how to figure out what port states will be

for the NAT/ACL stuff, i got caught slipping because i dont know the command line structure. concepts here are not enough, you have to know how to create a nat pool with the CLI, and you have to know how to write an extended ACL with the CLI.

I got the sim about configuring a switch to be part of the vtp domain.
i got some ipv6 questions. is ipsec required or optional? i know it used to be required and i saw it in the training, but wikipedia says its now optional again.

im going to take it again next week šŸ™‚

is there a way you can get the questions from cisco, like a question by question breakdown of what you got wrong?

    Just passed March 2nd.
Cisco.AcutalTests.640-816.v2012-02-05.204q.vce is valid and contains 60% of same questions.

Use 9tut and 486vce from CCNA part to get remainder of questions.

@Oscar Ross, which Frame Relay Sim did you see on the exam and can you please tell me where to find it on this site. I have only seen Sims for VTP, NAT, EIGRP, and OSPF. Also, the Sim that you saw for VTP, was that the one where you configure the IP Address, Default Gateway, Domain and Mode for the New Switch? Please let me know. Thanks

@Oscar Ross: I think you should go with CCNA Security. It gives you basic knowledge about security.

is there any dumps that i can try before going for icnd2 exam

    March 9th, 2012

I know easy to say but hard to do.
Yesterday i passed icnd2. It was second attempt. Some common remarc ….
Need good concept on all the contents of icnd2 syllabus, and then practice the questions and ans. The practiceing the qs. and ans. is vital because it makes you to preper faster, to ans the questions. in the real exam the time is very little. Have no time to reflect.
It is one of the disadventage of this exam.
I followed the books are Todd Lammle, Wendell Odom, Richard Deal, Dale Liu and Exam CRAMof Jeremy Cioara.
I followed also Network Simulator of Wendell odom and cisco CCENT Mind Share Game.

*** followed all contents of great helper site 9tut.com. I revised it again and again. I reflect all of thouse in sleeping time too. Espatially all of its Sim. I got help from the people who follw this site regularly. some of them are very efficient and sincer to resolv the problem. xallax and 9tut. are some of them.
It is one of the key point to success ccna is seriously follow 9tut. Ofcourse after having good base on syllebus of ICND1 and ICND2.
I am greatful for all of thouse to 9tut.com site.
Wish to you to become more great in time.
    Thank-you again 9tut.

Took the ICND2 yesterday. 986/1000. 9tut certainly helped but you need to understand everything thoroughly.

Got VTP lab, frame-relay sim and most of my questions were from 9tut ICND2/CCNA and Actualtests old and latest dump of the test.

I went official ICND2 study guide -> CBT nuggets -> Packet tracer labs -> dumps. Labs and dumps are what made the knowledge stick.

    @ polar

where is the frame relay sim? inside the lab sim section of ICND2 640-816, there is not any frame relay sim.
    Where did you find it?

    Passed the ICND2 today!

    Sims:
VTP (Same concept but different IP)
    Frame Relay
OSPF Simlet (2 questions were the same, 2 additional new questions)

Most of the questions were from here. Also, if you are good with the Sims and Drag and Drop, time isn’t as much of an issue as you would think!
