ICND2 exams pretty straight forward. P4S v2.77 should be enough together with 9tut questions and labs in here. Unless and until Cisco comes out with new questions in the future, ICND2 is pretty easy compared to ICND1 which does have so many unseen questions. ICND1 was the best exam so far for me as it really tested my networking knowledge. I wasn’t even sure i’d pass. Since most of the questions were new to me. But i passed comfortably. Very wierd feeling when you are not sure how good/bad you’ve done and then you score good.

    Just passed ICND2 1000/1000.
I think this way is best:
1.Study CBT Neggets and make note as if you are in a classroom.

2.P4S and Actual tests(you can find in this website too:http://www.examcollection.com/)

I think if you haven’t time it is not necessary to go through the book. Use book as a reference).

3.I had OSPF and VTP sims exactly like 9tut.(In OSPF check both network and area).

Good Luck Buddies and thank 9tut

I passed the ICND 2 exam today with a 975. The only thing is that VUE sent it to Cisco for review. I didnt receive an offical score. Has anyone else seen this before? They said I should know in about 72 hours. I left about 20 minutes on the clock. You have 75 to finish the exam. I took my time with each question as well. Little confused about this.

ICND 2 to me was much easier that ICND 1. I got the OSPF and VTP sim. The only difference from the one on this site is you need to look at the 3rd router.

Changed the ip to 192.168.106.8 wildcard 0.0.0.3 and area 0. VTP sim had a new question. Every question I got was from P4S and this site. Good luck and try not to score so high!!

    @ Big D

Do you have idea of the vtp questions? Is it same concept of the vtp before?

  6. Rick
    May 7th, 2010

VTP is actually a hotspot question. it is listed on this site. It is identical to what is displayed here. Just remember what commands to type in on the command line to find the required info. ICND2 was 100 times easier than the ICND1 exam!

    May 7th, 2010

actually i correct myself. VTP is a simlet question. Thanks to all on this site for your help! Help others now! Pass it on!

    @Grin
Same concepts. There was 5 questions on VTP sim all but one are from this site. The question was what is the mac the of source address using 192.168.10.100 connecting to 192.0.100.10. Sh ip arp command was disabled and I dont know another command that would have helped. But the test is not bad at all. Do not sweat it

took my icnd 2 today, passed with 862 points 🙂 really want to thank all of you and 9tut and p4s 2.77 🙂 (Haji?) and I had the vtp simlet, I think I scored pretty low on that :/ and I had the ospf sim, I checked and re-checked that thing just to make sure it was even that simple…heh

But again, thanks all, really helped me to stop overhyping the test and just calm down and focus

    Hi 3lm4mri4

i use train signal,CBT Nuggets ,Todd Lammle for study.

    Pratice Question Testking, P4S 640-816 and 9tut.

If u just use pratice question to study,i think it will be very diffcult, cos u dont know the concept,so if u need the tesking question i can send it over to u,but is not the most up to date

    June 21st, 2010

I’ll be taking ICND2 on Friday in NY. I feel pretty confident about the material. Been studying for a few weeks now. Went through the cisco press book quickly, did some labs, read the pass4sure and realexams stuff. A little nervous about the sims, especially the VTP and NAT but if i practice a little more I’ll get them. Anyone have any last minute advice? I’ll be sure to post my experiences when I finished up the exam

    Passed ICND2 in 30 minutes with a perfect 1000/1000.

Pro tip: Don’t memorize test dumps, learn concepts!

I am Taking the ICND2 for the 4th time tomorrow. I went to class several months ago and I have used CBT Nuggets, but when I got to the test site for the 1st 3 times I got this question that I just couldn’t find the answer to and it killed my efforts for the rest of the test. I found this site two weeks ago from a CCSP friend and found the question that was killing my efforts. I hope to go in and kill this test tomorrow. I have understood more about the concepts from this site then the rest of the resources and Test king combined. I will report back my score, thanks. and if there is any other suggestions please let me know.

    June 24th, 2010

    @Ant

Have you read the books by Cisco Press or studied their website for configuration examples to the problems you were facing?

    ———————

Also for anyone thinking of taking the ICND2, know that there is a fair amount of questions related to troubleshooting. If you have minimal experience with switches/routers you need to either:
    -Rent rack time online
    -Download GNS3
    -Download PacketTracer
    -Buy real routers/switches

*You can find 2500 series routers and 2900 series switches for about $20 online.*

Just reading the books and going over test dumps doesn’t really prepare you unless you already firmly grasp the concepts. Also, if you are going on to other Cisco certifications note that this is just the starting point, a stepping stone if you will, and it all builds on top of your CCNA cert.

Lastly KNOW YOUR SHOW COMMANDS!!! More than sh run, sh ver, sh ip int br, sh int, etc. On the exams you may need to know all the show commands related to VTP, STP, Frame-Relay, switch mac addresses, switch trunks, CDP, etc. Not only know the commands but what information they give you, along with how you can use them in conjunction with each other to solve the problems.

If you really know the material and don’t just memorize the questions you will have no problem passing ICND1 and ICND2. I finished ICND1 with 40 minutes left and got 914/1000. I finished ICND2 in 30 minutes and got 1000/1000. If you’re going to go over test dumps and sample questions don’t just read them and think “oh, ok, I think I get it”. Read the question and pretend like you are explaining it to someone else about why the correct answer is correct. About how the answer is correct. If you can explain to yourself why and how for every question you know the concepts well enough to pass.

Good luck to everyone! I’m starting on my CCNP prep today, hope to have it finished in a few months!

    Passed ICND2 today 986 – 1000
Had vtp sim and OSPF sim just different ip’s
    on the OSPF.
    41 questions.
    Study Guide
    ICND1 & ICND2 cisco books
    CBT Nuggets
    Pass4sure
and of course 9tut…great site thanks 9tut.

Passed ICND2 today in NY today. Scored 963/1000. 41Questions on the exam, took me about an hour because I read each question carefully, determined what they were asking, and answered it to myself before looking at the available answers. The real exam gives you between 5 and 6 answers to select from, unlike the typical 4 you see in most study guides so its important to know the concept and why the answer is correct in case the wording is altered.

I also had the VTP and OSPF sim. I used the Cisco ICND2 Guide, Pass4Sure / Real Exams, and 9tut. As bdizzle mentioned, know the ‘show commands’ they’re invaluable. Practice your subnetting and good luck! Now on to the CCNP.

Yeah! Cleared ICND2 today and I have to say it is easier than ICND1…

Took me slightly more than 30 minutes for the entire test…

Most questions that came out can be found in P4S and of cos… 9TUT!!!

The only sim I had was OSPF, with different IP, area and wildcard mask…

I would also recommend peeps to check out CBT Nuggets to enforce their understanding about this course, Jeremy Ciora is truly 1 kickass instructor!

Truly glad to have found this site!

@9tut, do you have a similar site for CCNP? 🙂

    Thank you again 9tut!

Took Icnd2 exam yesterday failed with 823. No sims hotspots or drag and drops from here on it. Frame relay hostspot from ccna (9tut.com), a new ospf hotspot i had never seen regarding ip routing and ospf id really hard! and new vtp sim i hadnt seen add ip, default gateway and make switch into vtp client. Easy enough and got it working. A lot of new questions also one question regarding ospf variance, route cost questions. All in all a difficult exam which I had prepared well for but not enough seemingly. If anyone else has come accross this ospf hotspot i would love to hear from you.

Sorry my brain was mush after the exam and I cant remeber exact details regarding the ospf hotspot. 1 question on it was what the router id would be on one of the routers with a coupleof lans attached. Presume it was the one with the highest address. Have a look at this dump http://www.examcollection.com/cisco/Cisco.CertifyMe.640-802.v2010-08-03.by.Winget.360q.vce.file.html Its a ccna dump but there were quite a few questions from it on the exam. The new icnd2 versions that have been posted on examcollection are the same as the ones from earlier on in the year. The vtp sim is simple enough, its not on any of these sites but it was two switches one that was configured as vtp server that you could console to then you had to configure the second switch with next avilable ip in the range after the router and 1st switch, configure default gateway, same as on swicth 1 obviously, configure the same vtp domain and then set it as a client. As i said the frame relay from the hotspot section on 9tut.com and also question 12. Best of luck

Took and failed the ICDN2 exam. Got a 798 out of 825. Scored 50% on WAN technology section, but scored near perfect on the others. Does anyone have an up to date dump for the latest version?

  28. Trilark
    August 14th, 2010

Failed today ICND2 w/784 over 825. I had 105 min and 40 questions. I got exacly the same VTP lab @gigs, anyway its simple. No others lab, i got frame-relay hotspot from CCNA 9tut, and i’ve found that at least 5 questions were from CCNA TestInside v11.72 and TestInside v17.12, i ignored them…
I’ve verified that mostly are answerd correctly, i remember ’bout 30 questions over 40, few questions i’ve not found anywhere, i think they must still go out in the next dumps.
    Thankyou everyone and 9tut!

    Hi gigs!

    Just one more questions!

On the ospf hotspot you mentioned, do we have to type any show commands ??

Or it gives already the output and you just have to answer the question?

Thanks for your latest sharing information!

  30. Middz
    August 16th, 2010

    @ Jonny
The labs I had where the VTP switch config (easy, setting a Switch IP, Default Gateway, VTP mode client and vtp domain name). I also had the Frame-Relay lab where you have to find 4 things: Destination DLCI Address, telnet password, another DLCI and the last one I forget. But I do recall seeing the Frame-Relay lab on this website with the correct answers. As far as the other questions go, I’ve seen a good amount of them on here as well as examquestions.com with the latest dumps. Although I failed with an 815 out of 825 (grrrr), I plan on re-taking it next week. As far as my scoring goes, I got perfect on switching and NAT, Routing and another section I was in 80% range, with WAN in the 50″s (which killed me). I’ve only used Wendel’s book and purchased another 300 questions from netsim.com. Hopefully, this website and the dumps will help me pass.

    Thanks 9tut for all!!!!
Here new icnd labs if you want to update it:
Passed icnd2 today with 921/1000. Here I share my experience:

    About questions:
There were 25% with new questions never seen. Used the following and it is pretty enough:

    ICND1 640-822 Pass4sure 191 Q’s – VCE
Actualtests 640-816 ICND2 v8.6.09 (this file is very important since it covers the most icnd2 questions that many people complain questions not seen)-it is a big file…..
    Download link:
    http://www.careercert.info/2009/08/ccent-icnd1-icnd2-practice-tests-and.html

    About 3 Labs:
Frame relay hot spot (the same from 9tut/choose no password required if serial is HDLC)=scored 100%
New labs: Switch lab and OSPF hotspot

    Switch lab:scored 100%
    –>means connected
    Configuration were : One Router–>Sw1–>Sw2

Lab Objective: you should configure Sw2 as vtp client. Sw2 is already vtp server and has 7vlans. Once you finished configuration on Sw2 you will see the 7vlans reflected on SW2 client mode, which means vtp is configured correctly

    Solution:
Get the vtp domain name, ip address x.x.x.93 x.x.x.x and default gateway
    On sw1:
sw1#show vtp status and show running-config

    On Sw2:
    sw2(config)#interface vlan 1
sw2(config)#ip address x.x.x.94 x.x.x.x (use last assignable address from sw1 range)
    sw2(config)#no shutdown

    sw2(config)#vtp mode client
sw2(config)#vtp domain east_valley (this one was my vtp domain name )
sw2(config)#ip default gateway x.x.x.x (use the same D.G from sw1)
    sw2(config)#copy running-config startup-config

Try to ping sw1 and sw2 and D.G to check if everything is alright. No need to configure trunks.(already configured by the lab itself)

    OSPF Hotspot:
(dont remember quite well but this is similar):
Notes:No need configurations or show commands, you just have to answer with the topology shown:

Topology: ISP connect to OSPF area (were all routers were connected)

    ISP–>Router1 (serial)–>Router2(serial)–>Router3–>Switch–>Router4(serial back to) )–>Router1

Lab questions: there were 4 questions:
Q1:What is the router ID for Router1?
I choose the Highest IP (in this case highest ip were the one connected to ISP). So i think it does not make sense choosing that one. So I choose the second highest IP(because it´s belongs to interfaces from OSPF area)

Q2:What woud you do avoid split horizon on Router 3?
    (don remember the answer)
    ….shut broadcast
    ….do nothing
    etc….

Q3: How many network would ospf router show in the routing table as OSPF?
(in my understantding this would be how many “O” (means ospf) you would get when you do a show ip route)
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    6
    7
    I choose 4 (not sure)

    Q4: don´t remember

    Cheers for eveyone!!!
    Just completed CCNA!!!!

Took ICND2 today, passed barely. Most questions that were from August VCE file with about 300 questions in it. Can’t remember exactly I tried so many. The OSPF sim were the hardest. Everything else was pretty straight forward if you studied.

  33. Middz
    August 22nd, 2010

    @non
Can you tell me what August VCE file you used that had the most questions on it? For the OSPF sim, the one where it did not ask you to configure anything but made you choose which had the highest RID, how many routes OSPF would pick up from Router 1 and if split-horizen was enabled/disabled (I forget), do you remember the answers? Fenderplus goes into detail with the OSPF question above. The reason I ask is because I def. got this one wrong.

    Thanks!!!

  34. Middz

(Miami Area) – ICND2 (640-816) is totally new. Only 4 or 5 questions were in total from 9tut.com (ICND2 part) & examcollections.com (latest dump). Full OSPF PICKY questions and a very hard picky exam. I feel it very hard, I was very confident, I studied a lot (not relying on dupms) and I passed with 835 (right there… almost failed). Study a lot, not rely on DUMP or 9tut questions.

  37. passer
    August 25th, 2010

well @Sergio i doubt that you prepare well because you can pass the exam without looking to dump if you prepared 100% you can score over 890 so easily the only purpose for the dump is to be familiar with the exam all the best for all of you guys

flunked ICND yesterday with a high 700s score
it was bloody tough. i was very low on time at the end. but i only passed ICND1 on the 1st of this month so i’m trying for a quick turnaround here.

i don’t believe in dumps but i will give you some tips:
there were loads of questions on frame relay – know your definitions of key terms!
perhaps three questions on IPv6 which i didn’t study. know this!
there was a multi-part question on ospf, a multi-part question on frame relay, and one which you had to config a switch on vtp.

  39. pauly
    August 27th, 2010

i agree with sergio btw – study. A LOT. it’s a darn tough exam. some of the questions i felt had highly ambiguous wording, which i thought was ridiculous.

I think we are wondering off from this site’s purpose. We have 2 facts so far:
1 – the ICND2 subjects have changed to a certain extent
2 – fenderplus user has provided some clarification on the new subjects

@pauly – Were any of the subjects present on the 9tut website ?

@all – We should discuss these exam changes in the dedicated topic on the forum. It’s easier to track this way plus we can add network diagrams:

Passed ICND2 with 900/1000. CCNA Certified!! (already passed CCENT with 980/1000)

    Studied:
    1. Wendell Odems ICND2 book + 150 included Study Questions
    2. Downloaded Boson 150 questions
    3. Downloaded and used the .VCE dump files:
    A. http://www.examcollection.com/cisco/Cisco.TestKing.640-816.v2010-05-18.209q.vce.file.html
    B. http://www.examcollection.com/cisco/Cisco.ActualTests.640-816.v2010-02-08.by.CrazyHunter.vce.file.html
    1. Word to note, the exam had several questions from here, word for word.
    4. 9tut.com
    A. On the CCNA section, several questions from the IPv6, OSPF and EGRIP sections were on the exam. Word for word again.

    Labs:
    1. Configure Switch with the following to communicate with the other Switch (trunking already configured):
    A. VTP Client Mode
    B. VTP Domain Name
    C. IP Address for Native Vlan (Vlan1)
    D. IP Default-Gateway
    2. OSPF (non-configurable, answers based off knowledge of OSPF)
    A. What is the RID for Router 1 (Highest IP NO MATTER WHAT, even if it goes to another network not included in OSPF)
    B. How many networks in routing table show up for OSPF if learned by Router 1 (I chose
    C. How to do Routers 3 & 4 stay in touch? Hello’s every 10 seconds
    D. How does Router 2 Load Balance OSPF traffic for Routers 3 & 4? (tough) but I choise OSPF cost and bandwidth
    3. EIGRP (log into Router and ONLY use show commands)
    A. What is the DLCI needed for a static Map to another Router (sh frame-relay map tells you what DLCI is associated with what interface. You can do sh frame-relay pvc but does not tell you enough info)
    B. Same question but for another router
    C. What is the vty password
    D. What Router is using default Cisco encapsulation (sh running-config will show you the inferface. One Interface is running HDLC (will not show it since it’s default). The other interfaces have PPP, PPP/CHAP, Frame-Relay, etc…).

Overall, there were 2-3 ACL questins, 1 question to determine what subnet would fit best in an overall LAN Topology of several Routers with specific Host requirements. Others included STP vs RSTP, What’s the Root Switch and why are some ports blocking versus others.

In the end, if you study and read and really understand how these components work, then you’ll be fine. My advice? Do practice question after practice question. Read the books. Read forums and REALLY understand what is being asked. Cisco tries to trick you, so beware :).

    Good luck!!

  43. Middz
    August 27th, 2010

Forgot to mention, a few from the Drag & Drop from the ICND2 section and a few others around the site. Again, study the website. There may not be direct questions, but it will give you the right frame of mind to understand the question being asked and answer it.

  44. Middz
    August 27th, 2010

Ah..My mind is not with me.

For the OSPF question above, the RID is determined by the following:
    1. Highest IP of ACTIVE LOOPBACK Interface
    2. Highest IP of ACTIVE Physical Interface

The question is tough because the highest IP Address points to a Network outside of the Backbone Area 0. Even still, the RID is taken from the highest address.

  45. umer
    August 27th, 2010

    Middz…….

can you tell me for OSPF, 1) you selected Highest IP from Network outside the backbone area ?
    2) your third lab is EIGRP or FRAME-RELAY, because i have seen frame relay same questions on 9tut.

    thanks
    by the way Congr!!!!!!!!!

  46. Middz
    August 28th, 2010

    @Umer

    Good questions.

    1. OSPF RID (Router Interface ID) is selected as follows: Highest 32 bit (why we say IP is because it really is IP..getting beyond this is CCNP/CCIE levels) Loopback interface. If the Loopback is down, then the RID is the highest 32 bit address of a physical address. Now, the questions ask’s simply, what is the RID of R1? You have 5 Interfaces. 4 are in Area 0, 1 outside Area 0, connecting to ISP 1. The 32 bit address connecting to the ISP is the highest. The next is the one connecting to Area 0. So your first instict is, well since Area 0 is OSPF, than that HAS to be the RID. In fact, that’s wrong. The RID, no matter what, is the highest 32 bit address, no matter what.
Moving with this, I spoke with a few CCIE’s who agreed. Now, people on 9tut.com may disagree (and I’m all about debating and listening), but far as I can tell, I got the credit on the exam.

    2. My third lab was Frame-Relay. I had a few EIGRP questions, like if the successor route is still valid but the feasible successor fails, what happens? Obviously nothing since the successor route is what’s populated in the routing table. But for Frame-Relay, what’s written above in my earlier post is what I had. I also saw the same questions on 9tut.com (with different values but same question), but UNDERSTAND how DLCI’s map (local) and destination IP’s with the frame-relay map IP DLCI Broadcast command.

Finally, I took the exam twice (read my earlier posts). I also took it with a co-worker who failed as well (the first time, so we both failed). So when I took it again today (August 27th, first time on August 22nd), I hit about 75% of the same questions, if not ones I saw in the dumps and on this website.

Any more questions, let me know. I love this shit.

    Good luck!

    @ Umer,

You were right, my apologies. The third lab was NOT EIGRP, but Frame-Relay. When I got back to work today after the test I was so pumped my head was every where. Anyways, let me know if you’re still confused or need help.

    Cheers

i’m the same as you middz, and had very similar questions. just flunked and going to book it again to sit ASAP. hopefully i run into the same questions as last time. i took long notes on what i was unsure about while it was still fresh in my mind.

it’s a tough exam, there’s no doubt there. i missed out by what i estimate to be two, three four questions – i got in the very high 700s.

did you get the same labs second time around? i had no problem with the labs.

Took the ICND2 on 12th august. failed with a 730. read through the cisco press but relied too much on P4S. When i took ICND1 i found that almost 100% of questions where out of the P4S. On this occasion the P4S ICND2 exam only covered less than 50% of the actual questions in the real exam.

My advice: dont rely on p4S untill the come up with an update.
No excuses for me, I just need to learn it the hard way and read the cisco book. At least P4S refunded my money 🙂

    one question i had was:

the mac address table was shown, and there were about 30 or so unique mac addresses attached to one particular port. Say, fa0/1.

what device is connected to fa0/1?

they only had pictures, the pictures being:

    1. PC
    2. Router
    3. Switch
    4. ATM switch

an atm switch? wtf? the picture in particular completely threw me, i;d never even seen it before. it’s in the front of odom’s book though, i know now!! surely the answer is just a normal switch?

I studied ICND 2 through Chris Bryant’s Train Signal videos but as exam has changed in early August, can anybody tell me what more to study?

I know that no single dump has it all for the updated exam but which dump has most questions from the exam?

The exam has the same topics. Train Signal and Odom’s book is enough.

    August 30th, 2010

Hi All, i passed my ICND2 today, 865. Not bad, was pretty difficult. Frame relay, NAT, ACL’s, OSPF and EIGRP questions. I studied P4S 640-816 ICND2 200Q and Test King V39. Trust me brain dumps wont help as much. You need to know the modules!!

  58. Middz
    August 30th, 2010

    @ Pauly,

To answer your MAC question, it would be Router.

Yeah, re-reading the last 30-40 posts on here, most people will agree it is a tough exam. If you’re just starting out in this career as I’m sure some people on here are, the CCNA can be daunting. I work for a Managed IT Services provider here in NYC and have been doing this now for 5 years (I am 25). I am a Senior Net Admin here, and even after doing Routing/Switching for 3+ years, I found the test challenging. I found it ‘easier’ to do the two track path, as I aced the CCENT but found the ICND2 challengeing. Oh well. Thoughts everyone?

I’m on to Cisco Field Engineering then completing the last two exams for MCITP Enterprise Server before going to CCNP.

  59. Middz
    August 30th, 2010

    @ Pauly,

Actually, it would be Switch for the answer. God today is Monday, right? Haha.

FA0/1 would be a trunk port, hence all of the different MACs.

Hey Guys, Found this site a few days ago looking for ICND2 information. I passed the ICND1 at the end of July, but failed the ICND2. Went back the second week in Aug and was blown away. Hardly anything I studied was on the test. I had used ActualTests.com and they were pretty right on with the ICND1. Started back from the basics and been craming, waiting for some updates. Noticed this morning that Actualtest has an aug 31 update. Don’t know if its vaild yet.

Thanks for the info Middz and fenderplus, you guys are right on. Labs beat me up really bad on this one.

Test-king.com had an updated version as of 8/31, from the questions I have looked at so far they have many of the questions that were on there Monday 8/30. I have not had a chance to view all but purchased and will know more after this weekend. I failed badly because I studied old test from there and did not know labs at all.. They offer PDF too which is nice at a good price since I don’t have unclass at work. My CCNA is up on 9/22 so I need to get it done to recert..

  72. TJ
    September 3rd, 2010

I also purchased Test-king 8/31. I spoke to them and they said that the 8/31 updates reflect the changes that were made to the ICND2 in early August. Tas, when did you take the exam before? Does the new TestKing you just purchased look very different from the old one you studied when you didn’t pass?

  73. tas
    September 3rd, 2010

I have only gotten through half of it so far and there are definitely additional questions that showed up from the exam I took on 8/30. The drag and drops are right on, the only thing I did not see (and I have not been through the whole thing yet) was the one lab where you had to log on to the east/west wing (?) console. I am hoping to knock it out this weekend and will get back to you.

  74. TJ
    September 3rd, 2010

    Hi All,

First of all thanks to 9Tut for such a great website. I really did help me a lot to pass both of my ICND1 and ICND2 which I did on Friday.
I find that ICDN 2 wasn’t as hard as ICND1, However a lot of the questions here and also in P4S are still valid. I only have 2 Sim, VLAN and Frame Relay.
Study Tomm Lammle, and CBDnuggets. and Cisco Press CCNA, loads of simulation practice. and also make sure you can subnet quickly! Good luck to all for are taking ICND 1/2.

Thank you to all of you guys who has contributed here…
looking to do CCNA Security now, and hope to progress to CCSP in six months time!.

    Cheers All.
