Can someone please tell me which is the right answer? In the Dumps I found two different answers and I am not sure which one is the correct one?
    A or D ?

which protocol can offer the best-effort delivery to the user data?

    a)SMTP
    b)TCP
    c)MAC
    d)IP

    TCP or IP ?

  6. Broffredo
    April 29th, 2013

    IP provides best-effort delivery.

  7. Broffredo
    April 29th, 2013

Also, D is the correct answer for that question above. TCP uses port numbers to direct data to the correct browser window or tab.

    Passed CCENT with 962/1000.

    Material I used:

@Can someone please explain to me how they got that answer? Thanks!
    http://tinypic.com/r/2d27twy/4

yup, by default hdlc is not shown in configuration.
    A) To ping .226 the int should be in ‘no shutdown’ (routers have ports in shutdown mode by default),
    B) like point A) (adm shut)
    C) like point A) (adm shut)

@which protocol can offer the best-effort delivery to the user data?
    a)SMTP
    b)TCP
    c)MAC
    d)IP
    TCP or IP ?

IP and _UDP_ can offer the best-effort delivery, so in this case answer D (IP) is correct

  22. mrf
    May 1st, 2013

    @KveKve
I meant that HDLC is default protocol so it is not shown in ‘show run’ 🙂

Regarding points A,B and C – double checked at 7606 and example interface config looks like below:

    interface GigabitEthernet1/17
    no ip address
    shutdown
    !

So serial 0/0/0 has no shutdown… Sorry for misleading, my answers are incorrect…

I found this question on 9tut:

    A. The configuration is incomplete, which will cause the interface status to be “Serial0/0/0 is down, line protocol is down”
    B. The interface is using Cisco HDLC for layer 2 encapsulation.
    C. The configuration is incomplete, which will cause the interface status to be “Serial0/0/0 is up, line protocol is down”.
    D. A ping to the remote address 209.165.200.226 will be successful.

    Answer: B

    Explanation

The configuration is correct and the “no shutdown” command was used (because we don’t see a “shutdown” line in the output) so we can see at least “Serial0/0/0 is up” -> A is not correct.

Although the configuration is correct but we don’t know if this interface is connected with another router or not. If it is connected with another interface (on another router) and that interface is up, we will see the “Serial0/0/0 is up, line protocol is up”. Otherwise we will see “Serial0/0/0 is up, line protocol is down” -> we can’t guarantee answer C is correct.

Answer D is the same with C because we don’t know if the remote interface 209.165.200.226 exists (and turned up) or not.

For WAN interface (serial interface), the default layer 2 encapsulation is HDLC -> B is correct.

    HI Guys

I take my CCENT (ICND1) tomorrow. I have been using the Cisco Learning Product Books. I have done many subnetting examples and some sh and ip configs on PT. i have also answered many exam sets from http://www.ccentquestions.com/ )has anyone used this site? after reading this site im now very nervous.

  27. Broffredo
    May 2nd, 2013

    @Denzel – Good Luck!
I never knew of that site. I just took all 99 questions and got an 88. Not a bad site for some extra practice questions.
I have been averaging about 50-60 questions a day from various sources, also doing labs and taking a ton of notes from 4 different video series.
I take my test next week. Fingers crossed!

I had my ICND1 exam today and from silly mistakes, I achieved 812 out of 804.
    The Grade is Pass.
On the right side of the paper I got says “the score information displayed on this report is preliminary and does not constitute an official score report.”
Is there any case that they will fail me on the exam since it says “Pass” ?
Please let me know because I am anxious.

I’ve been studying the material here at 9tut for about 2 weeks now along with official Cisco material I borrowed from a CCNP person I work with. Going to take the test today in a couple of hours. Will come back and let you guys know how I did and how relevant the material here is.

Passed the exam today with a score of 912!!
From 9tut, I got the Implementation SIM, 3 drag and drops, and plenty of subnetting related questions. 2 of the drag and drops are the same as the ones here. One of them I have never seen before. Most of the other questions are very much like the ones here with different names or ip addresses. Know your subnetting and you’ll do fine.

    Onward to ICND2 !

    Hello Everyone,

I took ICND 1 exam failed. I just got 712 points out of 1000 with still 5 questions to go. I remember some questions which I would like to share.

    1. The 10.100 mbps NIC is replaced with 1 gbps NIC. But the host is able to connect to the network something like this. They had provided some out put which showed that speed as 100 mbps, flow control is off and some output. The question was what is the reason. The options were like
    a. The speed is set to 100 mbps
    b. The flow control is off. and 2 more options which I don’t remember.

    2. Many questions on Subnetting, Drag and drop. I also got a security testlet which is similar to this website but it was confusing. I think I did it wrong. I’m retaking my exam again on May 6th. I’ll appreciate if anyone can give any suggestions or tips on time management

    Thanks!

Excellent review site, 9tut! Thank you! I passed, 894. Half of my test had questions similar to your review questions. My suggestion to everyone is to get a full understanding of the principles and concepts, and not memorization. The entire test, I had to rely on putting concepts to practice. Good luck to all; onto ICND2.

    Hello Everyone,

I passed the ICND1 test. Got 812 points this time. The strange thing is I was able to finish to exam in just 1hr 5 mins. While in my first attempt I was short of time and I was not able to complete the test. In my second attempt the questions were little weird which I’ll recall and post soon. Around 40-50% questions were same. I got the security Testlet and one more sim question from this website which is to find the router types using show cdp neighbors and labeling the interfaces and routers. I will recall more questions and post them soon.

    Thanks a lot 9tut.net..!!!!

Took the ICND1 yesterday and got a 9XX. The Implementation SIM 2 was on there, Security Testlet along with the WAN D&D. A bunch of subnetting, but all Class C from what I remember.
Like it has been said before. Know your stuff. I studied for 3 months. I watched videos, took about 20 practice exams and I bought the ICND1 and ICND2 Official Study guides with the simulator. You need to know the concepts behind everything if you want to pass this exam and future exams with confidence, as well as succeed in the real world. Good luck.. On to ICND2.

I did icnd1 on 15may 2013 –passed 870 hurray! (first attempt i ran out of time had to click passed last sim without even looking at a scored 79.5 % -just 0.5 short —-sickner)
    I want 2 give back 2 9tut.

anyone know how i can post a small graphic of a new Q ?
it had 3 devices and an internet cloud symbol that we had to name plus we had to name the cables interconnecting them. The graphics overall shape was L shaped and had one connecting cable that was shown as 1.2 km (i think) any how i knew this had to be fibre but
rest i could’nt spend time on though i know this has to be a simple answer. You just had to tick boxes beside names to select from options

    A fibre optic
    B cat5
    C router
    D switch
    E hub
    F (cant remember)

i got a perfect score(ithink) for The “Implement SIM” as is on 9tut.net ecept ip addresses are different.
The key to this SIM is in using the ‘ show CDP neighbor detail ‘ command.

I got a sim Q on a single router and a single (seperate) switch. You had to answer questions about how secure/unsecure they were individually basically by doing a
show-running config on each and being able select from options below to ans 4 Q’s

    enable password
    telnet vty
giving default access level 15 by default to all users
banner login not appropriate(or somthing like that)
    weak passwords

(this was my worst question —get to know your security stuff)

i used measureup (excellent for all info you learn from the correct answers the give)
however a few Q’s did’nt open exhibits etc -effectively duds so was disappointed given it was paid for version.

Have read all of Wendell ODom book ICND1
used packet tracer to practice labs

also used VCE’s (lead2pass) free – is ok for looking at questions mostly when youve done all the material. ie has lots of Q’s with wrong answers (do not use these to learn your material!!!)

    in brief
after youve read and understood material and along the way built your own little practice labs in PTracer (from wendell odom in my case)
then you really need to start doing questions (ones that give correct answers and explainations) this is going to be some paid version Q set for reliability.

oh ya —-subnetting is a must
i used this site for testing my self:

    http://www.subnetting.net/Subnetting.aspx?mode=practice

    then start doing 9tut.net sims
i built sims in packet tracer

    book exam for 2weeks ahead

    go back over question banks
over 9tut.net Sims (+any you made in PTracer)
    over security commands

over any other Ptracer labs you created along the way.

    you should be ready

nb Wireless is only on ICND1 not for ICND2 so know it —always one question at least.

OH forgot —- on the Non English native speaking issue raised above:

we happened to discuss this yesterday with a CCNA official tutor (its his living)

you are entitled to an extra 30 mins if your native language is not English, however if you are living in an english speaking country for more than 3 months this does not apply.

if you are living in an english speaking country for less than 3 months then you’ve got to prove this to get extra 30 min.

    regards

-apparently some Q’s now are being put in by cisco are duds ie you dont get any marks for them nor loose any marks but they give you extra time.

I think i must got one of these (its their way of trying out new Q’s for new syllabus changeover in autumn i think)
the Q asked was simple just whats ip address of interface fa0/0. For this i only had to do a show ip interface br this gave me answer,
then i had to ans what BW was so i did a show ip interface fa0/0 but while in there i noticed that the ip addr was showing different in that , now i couldnt answer the question.

it was’nt my eyes –i treble checked and put both views side by side.

—-Cisco are’nt things hard enough for students without putting in sloppy workmanship in our exams —-if i had failed by 1% i’d be raging!!!!!

    iv’e said enough

Passed ICND1 today with 899. A LOT of the stuff from 9tut was on there including the Show Config and Implementation Sims, the Security Testlet, and the Router Config drag and drop. I had 50 questions and passed with 40 minutes to spare. If you are not quick at subnetting, you will have a problem. Also, brush up on your wireless. That’s the only area I suffered in really.

Don’t rely on dumps, KNOW THE CONFIGURATIONS!

passed ICND1 with a score of 925. read ICND1 by Wendell Odom. Watched CBT nugget videos ICND1 , built out labs in packet tracer. dont rely on just memorizing the answers, definitely know the theory behind these concepts and you will pass!

I studied for a good 2 months before taking my test.

I also used how2pass.net and practiced until i could get at least 85% on random test mode.

Passed on 14.05.2013 collecting 950 points out of 1000. It took 1h 11s to finish the test. Source of knowledge – Wendell Odom’s ICND1 book, this site and practice in Packet Tracer.

I found a bug in simulator when taking the exam: “show ip interfaces brief” and “show interface fastethernet x/y” showed different ip addresses for the same interface. I do not know whether it was intended but… in my opinion it was inconsistency.

Good luck to all thinking about taking the test.

    Started learning for ICND2…

    Cheers

Passed ICND1 2 days ago with 864 and about 30 mins remaining. I used CBT nuggets, Packet tracer and this site, i did have ICND1 official book but didnt use it (dont ask me why).

A number of questions on this site, all the sims and testlets could be found here also, so my advice will be to go through all the questions on here with an understanding of how the answers are achieved.

@ Snowman and abc also had that question and also noticed the difference in the ip addresses when using the 2 different show commands. That interface also shows as up in one command and down in the other, thought i was wrong but checked it 3 times….Anyway, onto ICND2 now, need to complete it before Sep 30th. Will definitely be using this site for that also……Good luck to all.

Passed ICND1 on 20th May. 9xx. I used cisco packet tracer to practice all my labs. did a lot of labs from the CCNA curriculum 4.0. Used CBT nuggets to understand a few things that were not clear. but after doing the exam, I know those video tutes from Jeremy on CBT nuggests is really good. he touches some key points especially with the lab stuff.

Other than that I also referred to the Wendell Odom book.

    At the exam I got:
    – Implementation SIM
    – the security testlet (https://www.9tut.net/icnd1/icnd1-security-testlet)

some of the setting on security testlet that i got were actually different from what is posted on this site..

But you really really gotto understand the concepts and why these commands are used. dont just memorize ques and answers.

if you do understand them well, and then use these to practice then the exam will be so easy for you. Trust me

    @Nimal
My question is in regard to the security testlet,
OK the answer to Question 3 is A,B,D, but what is the correct answer to Question 1,2, and 4?
I know this security testlet is on most exams so please somebody let me know the correct answer.

I remember there being a tricky question that asked you (in a testlet/sim) why computers on a LAN couldn’t access the internet and one of the options was incorrect ip address/mask. That would have been true had it not been for the fact that the interface was shut down. BE CAREFUL!

Passed- between 9tut and lead2pass, most of the questions on the test were there. Had one simulator that took some time because it was only looking for specific commands to be entered to get your answers. Wouldn’t let you use show run.
    Cramming for the second test

Congrats @CSL. I waited 3 days after ICND1 before taking 2. I’m not 100% guaranteeing, but you can expect EIGRP, OSPF, Frame Relay, PPP, VPN, NAT, ACL, and Wireless to be on that ICND2.

Failed INCD1 with a 787. Had Implementation and Show Configuation sims. Will try again in a couple weeks after cramming some more, specifically in my weak areas. Thanks to this site for getting me this far.

    05/29/13. Scored 937 on ICND1.

I had no telecom background when I started in May 2012 in this job in pre-sales assisting telecom engineers.

I started studying in Feb 2013. My resources were:
CCENT all in one for dummies – 10 stars to this book. Totally love it.
My coworkers/Engineers – who continuously motivated and supported me
    Packet Tracer
    9TUT.com
Cisco prescriptive exams on the PEC

    Thanks to all.

Off to studying now for ICND 2.

And to add to my previous comment.

Please pay close attention to questions here, you are going to see them. For sure.

And please do work on your concepts. Because then, you will be able to answer those that you don’t see here.

    Thanks, Happy studying to all.

If I can do it, so can you 🙂

I am sitting the ICND1 exam tomorrow morning. I read twice the Wendell Odom book, watch CBT nuggets and did all the questions/sims on 9tut (which were very good).
Will let you guys know how it goes and which questions I had 🙂 !

    Hi guys,
I passed this morning with score of 864 but to be honest, it was Hard ! There was a good couple of questions I didn’t know or were very confusing.
-I recall one about “The benefits of switch micro-segmentation”… I never saw this word before.
-I had the Show Configuration Sim – However, the “show interface” was showing the interface up/up and the “show ip int brief” showing the interface down/down(cable not connected)… So I went for the “show ip int brief” as I remember that was the way on 9tut!
-I had the Implementation SIM (exact same)
Thanks a lot 9tut for all the very useful exercises, it did help to answer around 40% of the questions.
    Best of luck to all!

I passed the ICND1 on 06/03 with a 974. My knowledge came mostly from hands on experience. I was however able to locate which questions I missed. I am scheduled to take the ICND2 on 06/15 and I am definitely using this site to help study. I can do the work and config, it’s just the theory part that gets me.

Good luck to future exam takers and congrats to the ones who have passed!

    I Passed ICND1 on 07 June 2013, scored 899, used CBT nuggets, 9tut.

Do not memorize answers, learn the foundations and concepts, because different scenarios may appear in the actual exam.

    SUBNETTING –
    Practice the SHOW COMMANDS –
and don’t forget to eat before the exam ;D

good luck to all exam takers_
Lastly, don’t forget to pray before taking the exam 😉

I took the ICND 1 exam two weeks ago. I failed with a score of 749. I was able to finish the test in about 40 minutes. I half assed studied for about 4 days, got through 6 chapters in my ICND 1 book. Then the night before the test I studied 9tut and Lead2pass for about 6 hours, took the test on 3 hours of sleep.

I am taking the test again tomorrow, this time I actually studied, so hopefully I will pass. I will let you guys know how it goes.
