    Hi xallax,
please ignore my above enquiry, hence I sorted.
Just found out after a long investigation how I can open any VCE files in designer regardless if it password protected or not.
If not it is easy -just open.
To open a protected VCE in the Designer – all you have to do is to import it. šŸ˜‰

    simple enough, isn’t it?

Just sharing with everybody this hence it is great information, and I believe it is useful to know.

good job sharing that, i wont post any updates on that VCE file. the reason is obvious.

Xallax, just a quick note of gratitude for all your hard work. Don’t think for a minute that you’re not appreciated. Same goes for 9tut and all the contributors. You guys rock!

Xallax, Thanks for the VCE. Please don’t be disheartened. Is it true that you are not posting any more updates? I had found 2 errors I belive, I will post here so others can be aware, and the VCE can be updated if you are still doing that (Or I can be corrected If I am wrong)

Q A53 timers are cumulative, 240 is the total time till flushed not the time after it is marked as invalid. 240-180 = 60 wich is the correct answer

Q A71 Should be four equal cost paths as the variance is set to 1. Variance would need to be set higher to allow unequal cost paths to be used.

  6. xallax
    June 19th, 2011

    @Mr Guy
Hey, thanks for noticing them. there was a typo on A71 too…

A53: googled around, you are absolutely right.
A71: i guess i messed up the original text or something because i found a similar question, but the info differed. anyway, i will not change the scenario, i toggled answer E as correct (4 equal-cost paths) to reflect what you noticed: metric variance = 1; path = 4.

thank you very much for the feedback

    Hi all.
    How is Pass4sure test?

    June 20th, 2011

Passed ICND2 on Sunday. Thanks to all the contributors- especially Xallax and 9tut. I got VTP Sim, Frame Relay Hotspot.

I used nearly every tool available to prepare: Labsim(highly recommened!), CBT Nuggets, Lammle book, Odom books, Chris Bryant packages, Packet Tracer, etc. I can’t say enough about Labsim- it was the best resource. The combination of videos, demos, labs, and tests really held my interest and kept me from falling asleep. The material was so new and so dry that reading a book would put me right to sleep!

I was reall apprehensive about using dumps to prepare, but in the end I’m glad I did. By the time I got to the dumps, I knew my stuff anyway and got most questions correct or pretty close the first time around, so I felt less guilt. They actually helped me hone my test-taking skills like using process of elimination, etc. I had a bad habit of not making enough choices in a multiple choice answer (choose two, choose three, etc.) or not reading the question correctly and missing some details. So the dumps were good for that. In fact, I only went through Xallax’s dump once and didn’t even finish. I went through it enough that I knew what areas to focus on that I was weak in. I guess I still feel guilty and I’m still working it out and that’s why I’m still jabbering- LOL.

Know your stuff, and you will be fine. Memorize answers without studying and you’re a fraud who’ll eventually be found out anyway so don’t bother!

also purchased a Cisco Lab Kit to prepare, but between Labsim and Odom’s Router Simulator software, didn’t really need to…

    June 21st, 2011

Wrote today and passed, had vtp sim (1st avail ip (i.e 192.168.141.130) to be used ) and frame relay hot spot (had the chap authentication password where the password was in the show run).Had one vpn q about authentication security. one or two ICND1 questions.Basically, know the concepts, because there is some questions that you gone spent time and elimination process.Almost ran out of time so do not spent time on subnetting questions (know it!!)

The problem is ,you know the stuff, but there is some question where you really need to get your head around,so you tend to panic ,so just relax and calm down once it happens, you’ll be fine. What help me in this case, before the exam is started/activated,I wrote down everything I could remember ie subnets,ipv6 ,cli commands ,access-list type and commands/formats,I even wrote down the simlet steps ,so in the end the VTP sim took me 1 min to complete.hope this help

    Studied for 4 months,Jeremy’s videos 3 times,attended cisco classes,9tut forums and vce’s,and Packet tracer

    q i haven’t seen yet
    q1 – which vlans could be moved,modified,deleted
    1 to 1001
    2 to 1002
    2 to 1005 all i can remember

    q2
Something like,switch1 fa01 connected to switch 2 fa01 with vlans ,switch1 fa01 is configured as access port ,switch2’s fa01 does not show in ‘show vlan’,meaning it is a trunk port
I chose no vlan trafic over link (still need to confirm if this is correct)

    drag and drop q

    1- drag chap,vty passw,secret password,console password,access-group(did not dragthis one)
2 – ACL block all traffic for host to other networks, I chose, host ip addy
    ,mask 0.0.0.0,protocol ip

    ip v 6 q: how many ? 128 b

I found in the frame relay hot spot the ip in q is 4.4 mut in show run it is 0.4

    q: disadvatages of OSPF,choose 2

  14. grateful
    June 21st, 2011

My frame-relay hotspot had the same IP. Weird. Show run says IP address is 0.4- question asks where does traffic for 4.4 go- something like that. I was like WTF. I chose DLCI for 0.4.

If you are in a configuration Sim and the vty or console lines are not configured for security, will Cisco deduct points for configuring them or will they give you credit for being a good admin?

I passed with a 920 today…this is a great site! I did study Pass4sure as well with this site and it prepared me fully. I had VPN, frame-relay hotspot, multiple drag-drops and a couple questions that were not in any of the study material (just know the material). Thanks so much for the site this is a great review tool that allows a person to study in depth answers.

    hi all,

today I have passwd my icnd2, so I am now CCNA!! (43q / 75min / 846/1000 where 825/1000 is the minimun passing score).

Dear Xallax, THANK YOU VERY MUCH your VCE.
    – as a resource to measure the skill, and being prepared by, was great.
    – (even there were lots of redundancy and lots of wrong category, but these are not important. unless you want me to send you further details, what I happy to do for you)
    – otherwise it was great and ABSOLUTELY VALUABLE resource indeed.
    – ALL of my respect is yours!!! – THANK YOU, again, and apologies for my earlier post (you know what I am talking about) !!!

FOR THE EXAM TAKERS (640-816 icnd2).
    ———————————————————–
    – best to stady the fundamentals accurately!!! (mine was cbt, trainsignal, and cisco press book)

    – then – to have lots of practice (packet tracer 3.5.1 is more than enough, – I also had boson 6.3, boson 7, GNS3)

    – then – binary math – it is extremely important !!!! – to know in seconds bit rotations
subnet masks or wildcard masks incrementer is a life saver skill!!!! practiceit to MASTER!

    – then – to learn all the possible resources to measure the level where you are!
(almost any resource are good. BUT PLEASE NOT TO LEARN answers, rather than to understand why the answers are those answers)

    – I practiced on xallax’s vce, and lots of the questions (with different ip or just slicely modified questions) met on the exams. I would say about 25-30 I saw in Xalax’s vce!!
    – Also practiced boson exam environment (it was a voucher comes with the cisco press book, what I used for).

    – also to learn all the 9tut available resouirces, as well as the cisco practice exams on Cisco website (it is free and are quite useful).

    – THE KEY of SUCCESS:
    – I beleive is to learn untill understand- so you will have the skill, rather than having a certificate only. (CISCO is not MICROSOFT!!!)
CISCO really fairly do its exam to measure firmly your level. So you will only pass if you are on the right level!!! – time is also very tight, I run out of my time and had no chance to answer for the last 3 of the 43Q).

( i would say icnd1 was my hardest excam ever, than I took the icnd2, and I could say this was even more difficult and very time pressed!!! the 75minutes so quickly gone! were very tight.)

finally what I had on the exam:
had 3-4 sims, (all from xallax’s vce),
had 3-4 drag and drop definitions, those were really hard!!
had about 5-6 complex network draws with questions, – asking about details (kinds like are in xallax’s vce)
the rest of them were 1 or multiple answers kind questions.

as said 30-35 of 43q were coming from xallax’s vce, but be aware: mostly modified questions. – mostly the answeres are different therefore!

any further questions, please let me know.

all the best of luck for all
    BR

Here are just some questions I think failed to answer correctly
    1) What are two drawbacks of implementing a link-state routing protocols? (Select two)
    A. The large size of the topology table listing all advertised routes in the converged
    network
    B. The sequencing and acknowledgement of link-state packets
    C. The high demand on router resources to run the link-state routing algorithmn
    D. The requirement for hierarchical IP addressing scheme for optimal functionality
    E. The high volume of link-state advertisments in a converged network

2)On the topic of OSPF routing; which of the following are the traits of an OSPF
    area? (Select all that apply)
    A. Each OSPF area requires a loopback interface to be configured.
    B. Areas may be assigned any number from 0 to 65535.
    C. Area 0 is called the backbone area.
    D. Hierarchical OSPF networks do not require multiple areas.
    E. Multiple OSPF areas must connect to area 0.
    F. Single area OSPF networks must be configured in area 1.
    G. None of the above

    I’ll post other questions soon

Completely agree with what xallax said. You need to master the concepts. I would guess that half of my questions, or less, actually came from it. 2 labs did (VTP and Frame Relay), but they were changed in some ways. Just memorizing VCE alone would not have even gotten me close to passing it. I passed with a 958!

    @ Rogue Scout
Q1: The output of the show frame-relay pvc command shows “PVC STATUS=INACTIVE”. What does this mean?
    A. The PVC is configured correctly and is operating normally, but no data packets have been detected for more than five minutes.
    B. The PVC is configured correctly, is operating normally, and is no longer actively seeking the address the remote route.
    C. The PVC is configured correctly, is operating normally, and is waiting for interesting to trigger a call to the remote router.
    D. The PVC is configured correctly on the local switch, but there is a problem on the remote end of the PVC.
    E. The PVC is not configured on the switch.
    Answer: D
    Explanation:
The Frame Relay switch uses LMI to report the status of configured PVCs. The three possible PVC states are as follows:
Active state – Indicates that the connection is active and that routers can exchange data. This is the state of an operational PVC.
Inactive state – Indicates that the local connection to the Frame Relay switch is working, but the remote router connection to the Frame Relay switch is not working.
Deleted state – Indicates that no LMI is being received from the Frame Relay switch, or that there is no service between the CPE router and Frame Relay switch

Q3: 9tut is using a link-state routing protocol within their network. What are two drawbacks of implementing a link-state routing protocols? (Select two)
    A. The large size of the topology table listing all advertised routes in the converged network
    B. The sequencing and acknowledgement of link-state packets
    C. The high demand on router resources to run the link-state routing algorithmn
    D. The requirement for hierarchical IP addressing scheme for optimal functionality
    E. The high volume of link-state advertisments in a converged network
    Answer: CD
    Explanation:
The main drawbacks to Link State protocols are the amount of CPU overhead involved in calculating route
changes and memory resources that are required to store neighbor tables, route tables, and a complete topology map.
In addition to being resource intensive, link state routing protocols are hierachical by design using the concepts of areas in OSPF or levels in IS-IS, so a hierarchical IP addressing sceme is need for optimal routing functionality.
    Configure, verify, and troubleshoot OSPF

  52. HELP
    July 1st, 2011

    Disadvantages of OSPF:
OSPF is very processor intensive due to implementation of SPF algorithm. OSPF maintains multiple copies of routing information, increasing the amount of memory needed.
OSPF is a more complex protocol to implement compared to RIP.

  59. Ciaran
    July 4th, 2011

Passed my ICND2 exam today with 944. I studied:
Wendell Odom’s book. Proper text book. Very dry (as text book are) but goes deep into concepts.
CBT Nuggets – Jeremy Cioara. Jeremy would make watching paint dry interesting. Very good training videos.
And 2 weeks before the exam I hit the practice questions: Latest Test Inside dumps and of course the best of all, 9tut.
    Labs, Sims:
    1. VTP Configuration Sim – almost exactly the same as here except for small change in IP addresses and default gateway
    2. Frame Relay Sim – show cdp neighbors and show frame-relay map will get you the information on these. I did not come across this before anywhere.
    3. Similar to CCNA Implementation Sim: Drop the correct network address with subnet to the correct area. This involves basic subnetting skills. I haven’t come across the exact same figures anywhere for this sim.
I think there was another sim but for the life of me I cannot remember what it was.
Other than that NAT and ACL’s figured in a big way. Most of the normal questions I recognised from either 9tut or Test Inside, latest version. Generally the radio button and option button questions came from right across the ICND2 material.
On a final note, if you wanna go all the way to CCNP of even to CCIE, you need to get a good foundation and CCNA is where it all starts. Next for me, CCNA + Security.
See you all on the other side.

Passed today 874 passing score 825, man that was not easy!
    i had:
    _vtp sim
_frame relay sim with the typo ip 4.4 instead of 0.4; a password was definitly required for a serial using ppp encapsulation (wasn’t telnet cant remember)

    drag n drop:
    -https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/icnd2-drag-and-drop-questions-2 q5
-one about frame relay i didn’t saw before: lmi, pvc, dlci, etc

    qcm:
    http://www.9tut.com/ccna-ipv6 q7 with different addresses
    many stp questions http://www.9tut.com/ccna-stp-questions
ip nat, ip nat outside questions
rip http://www.9tut.com/ccna-rip-questions q4 with diffrent answers

my advise: make sur to practice all CCNA 9tut content (not just icnd2), and train STP !! be fast time is very short.

Here is a cautionary tail for those prepping to take the exam. Took my icnd2 today, to bad I mistakenly studyed the CCNA material. Silly me. Of course I failed. I have a feeling I would have gotten a better score had I take the CCNA test.

Lesson – pay attention to the labeling of the study material **facepalm

    July 9th, 2011

@Anonymous actually, you did better than those preparing for the icnd2, you’ve studied beyond the required level. you should be proud of yourself.
when i prepared for icnd1 i went through ccna study material too. i admit i focused mostly on the icnd1 material, but the icnd2 topics were intriguing too.
don’t give up, get your morale up and start all over.

Study the syllabus in ICND2 and make sure you know the topics well

Is it a fair assumption to say that if I study Wendell Odom ICND2 study guide, study Xallax’s dumps and study 9tut I have a solid chance of passing the exam?

  83. hmeister
    July 10th, 2011

    JA…
    That is what I did for ICND1 – and I watched Jeremy’s videos…
All I can tell you is that you will get questions that will test your knowledge on the concepts.
When I was taking ICND1 I saw these types of questions and you have to logically take them apart in order to get the question correct.
    – These types of questions will not be on the dumps or VCE’s. –
If you have really read Wendells book and can answer the exam reviews – complete the sims and use the VCE to ramp up your speed you have a good chance of passing.

@Asgar I remember a question that shows the entire mac address table and then based from the specified interface shown you would have to determine what specific network device it mostly represents. The choices were network device figures – Router, Layer 3 Switch, Layer 2 Switch, Hub or modem (I can’t remember exactly the 4th choice).

There was also a question in IPv6 where in you would have to choose 4 valid IPv6 addresses.

9tut and xallax’s vce are really valuable sources of info.
As ikszy3 said: learn until understand – so you will have the skill, rather than having a certificate only.

hmeister, what I am saying is that I have prepared and passed ICND1 by reading wendell odom, studying dumps and 9tut. But im unsure if this will be enough to pass the ICND2 exam by using this same method of study

Hey guys. answered ICND2 on the 10th ,missed by a bit. I got the same VTP config sim question as given in the site but i couldnt access the building_2 ( admin_2 in the real sim). instead i was getting a ā€œRouter1>ā€ prompt instead of ā€œbuilding_2>ā€. The question did mention router configuration is not accessible(no console attached to the router). I tried all commands on the damn router prompt but kept getting invalid comment or command prompt. I wanna know if therā€™s a way to get from router1 to building_2 config(i dont think its possible) or was there a glitch. If so how do i report it. Please reply. THANK U

    July 12th, 2011

@Dead_Man_Walking: I answered your question in the https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/icnd2-labsim/vtp-configuration-sim page. If you cannot access building_2 maybe the simulator has crashed, please try to ask the mentor at the center exam.
