    @Anonymous

Were there a lot of new questions as some had commented on examcollection? What about Drag and Drops?

    March 18th, 2013

    Failed Icnd2 3/17
VTP sim, Frame relay multinational core sim, ospf hot spot, agree it was a hard test i also only had about 10 min to spare. also had 5 or 6 ipv6 questions. probably cost me the test. most of the drag and drops are here in some form. there was one sim that i didn’t recognize, but it was pretty simple.

I just saw from the Bryant Advantage that the CCNA exam will change in September with a new exam number and everything. He is guessing new topics will be more challenging than before and there will be a lot more IPV6 questions but on the bright side switching is switching and OSPF is OSPF so that will not change.

Does anyone know how long it takes to receive the official CCNA certificate in the mail?? I passed 20th Dec 2012 and its almost April 2013 and still no sign of it.

Tim, seriously? Wow, that’s a long time. I would definitely go to the site and see what’s going on. Have you created a logon at the cert site? There you can choose your certificate fulfillment default. I have chosen pdf for mine. No need to wait for a mailed hard copy.

Passed with 974. I learned and studied the dumps and 9tut. Thanks greatly, don’t know what I’d do with you 9tut. I did actually learn not just memorize though. Got the usual VTP, OSPF hotspot, and Frame Relay. A couple new questions on my test, but not too hard to figure out. I think there was a typo on the Frame Relay as it was asking about an IP address that didn’t exist in the sh run, but it was only one question.

Passed today with plenty of time left over. 9tut, cbt nuggets, examcollections vce and icnd2 books – 9tut very very helpful. would say 90% of questions between here and latest examcollections practise exam are current.

revise revise revise, know the stuff and learn the types of questions that are on here its easy enough.

ipv6 questions and frame relay hotspot present from ccna area of this site – others located in icnd2 area.

Passed today. The comments above are right on target. Thanks to 9tut for the site. I donated to show my appreciation.

The sims are a great learning tool, make sure you know why you are selecting the answer. It shouldn’t be because you committed it to memory but because you understand the material.

    Thanks again 9tut

  27. Zaw
    March 26th, 2013

I’ve just taken ICND2 exam. The one tricky question i could recall is that you have to choose the correct subnet mask for given diagram. Let say, you have to choose 255.255.255.128 for subnet with 90 hosts. The tricky part is when you choose the subnet for serial link. Two ip address with mask 255.255.255.252 is given. You have to choose the right one which have to be in same subnet as the other end of the serial link.

They also test about Frame-relay. The command I use to answer the given questions is
    i) sh frame-relay map to see the DLCI no and mapped IP address
ii) sh ip interface to check which interface is using default encapsulation.

  28. HornDogg
    March 26th, 2013

Success!!!! Good looking out Zaw…. Sure enough I had Frame Relay Sim and they didn’t give you the parameters like in the practice sims… you had to know the commands and get it yourself! That alone saved me a simulation. Also had VTP sim… as always stated, know the concetps.. because the details, scenarions and ips are always changed. I finished inabout 25-20 minutes and got a 958. Used mainly how2pass.com (paid for the $39 ICND2 part) and used 9tut the last week of my 7 weeks of studying. Also used Daniel’s dump from Examcollections.com. STUDY and learn WHY an answer is correct and you will have no problems at all. If I can pass it with no networking background anyone can. Thanks 9tut and peers! Time for my brain to simmer a bit then onto another cert!

  29. time between ICND1 and 2?
    March 27th, 2013

Hi does anyone know how long you have to take ICND2 once you’ve got ICND1 for it to be CCNA cert? Is it until ICND1 expires (like 3 years) or is it like 3 months or something?
And, you’d have to pay again if you fail it right? Not possible to re-use the same voucher??

    Thanks

I passed the icnd1 in Dec, and yesterday I failed the icnd2. I bought the Boson exsim for the icnd1 and it helped tremendously. I also bought it for the icnd2 but it did not help at all. I checked 9tut and it was very helpful. Anyone use pass4sure?
I plan on retaking the icnd2 in one month. they are chaning everything in Sept, read the cisco press release. I am so upset I failed. I took the ccna exam 2 times last year before decideing to break it up into 2 parts. This is so upsetting

Just from the exams. Passed! I feel drained.
I’ve seen this question asked here: “how do i know when i’m ready to take the exam”. Here’s my suggestion, go throught your notes and or video at least twice n do all the questions here at 9tut. You’re bound to meet 25% of (similar) questions from here on your exam. Spend time on the questions n make sure you know why the wrong answers are wrong.
    9tut is awesome!
Thanks to all who comment here.

Took my ICND2 today. PASSED!!! Took the ICND1 at the end of January. 9tut is an amazing site and everyone who comments helps out so much. I had no networking background and a B.S. in Environmental Science, if I can learn it then anyone can. Just learn concepts and study.
    Stuff on the test.
Frame Relay and VTP Sim were on there. There were STP questions, IPV6, and Operations questions. Drag and Drop were EIGRP and OSPF.

I used 9tut (alot) CBT Nuggets (to learn concepts) and then random sites to get more input.
    Good luck to you all!
    Thanks again 9tut & community!

Passed the ICND2! Had the VTP and OSPF sims (where you have console access). Make sure you fast at subnetting, especially VLSM. I only had about 4 minutes to spare by the end of the exam because a couple VLSM questions took me longer than they should have. Also make sure you can quickly analyze STP, OSPF and EIGRP scenarios. The ICND1 took me about 3 weeks to study, but the ICND2 took me about 2 months.

Thanks 9tut & the entire community!

Passed my ICND2 on 31st March. Got the VTP and OSPF SIM. Got 4 new questions which I havent seen on 9tut. But they were manageable if you have your concepts clear. Get loads of subnetting practice. There was a tricky subnetting question to provide addressing to a network with ‘ip subet zero’.

Sources of study – CBT Nuggets, ICND2 official Study guide and 9tut.

    Cheers!
    All the best.

    Hey all,

If you’re looking for an entry level Cisco Job and are in the ST LOUIS, MO area, please feel free to email me for details about a couple jobs my company needs people for in the immediate/near future. We’re only looking for local people right now (within reason). If you’re 100 miles or less from St. Louis and are willing to drive I’m not going to stop you from applying by any means.

Feel free to email me at jruessing@adb-us.com if you’re interested.

    Thanks for your time.

Hi everyone, passed today with 986. Studied hard for about 2.5 months. Used Cisco.Lead.2pass.640-816.v2012-05-15.by.Daniel.232q.vce. and 9tut.net. Had the VTP sim from here and the frame-relay sim from 9tut.com. Yes, it can be a nerve racking experience if you are not prepaired but study like crazy, give yourself two months of solid study and review and go in confident.

  40. Rich
    April 5th, 2013

Just took ICND2, failed. Approx. 8-10 questions on IPv6, nothing on STP,VPN,IPSEC, less than 2 questions on vtp, vlsm. Last 7 questions I got 2 hotspots, 4 questions each. One frame hotspot the other OSPF. Very little on NAT, less than 5 ACL questions. I am normally pretty good about watching my time but when those 2 hotspots came up at the end, I only had about 12mins left for the last 7 questions which turned into 13 questions. I will try again in a couple weeks…hopefully less IPv6 and more subnetting next time. Anyone know what the chances are of getting the same question topics? I’d rather not see IPv6 again if at all possible.

    Hi Guys,
Just passed ICND2 today with 854/825. I was encountered a lot of newly updated unseen questions for different section such as switch configuration, OSPF , Frame Relay and other trouble shooting.
I recommend to study much and more theory in details before take exam.

  42. Mike K
    April 8th, 2013

Just failed ICND2 miserably. 734/825 to pass. Froze on first question which was subnetting a network. Had the VTP sim and froze on that kept trying to enter the default gateway for switch but did not use ip in front of it so kept getting invalid command. Lost it and moved on and forgot to set vtp client mode. Not sure what to do now. Studied Wendell Odom cert guide for 4 months and used Boson simulator with labs. I also had many questions I did not see here on site. Had lots of ipv6 questions. Not sure what to do now already spent months preparing and failed anyway. Any suggestions?

PASSED ICND2 ALMOST BARELY 828/825 ! I got NO IPV6 butalot of frame relay SIMs and questions. I felt like 70% of the exam was all switching. Make sure you know your STP, RSTP, etc ! Good luck everyone. Finally CCNA , CCNP here I come after 1 week break of course 🙂

    April 8th, 2013

ALSO ALOT OF NEW QUESTIONS DONT THINK THAT JUST LOOKING AT A DUMP AND VIDEOS WILL PASS THIS EXAM FOR YOU. If you understand the concepts of HOW things work and WHY then you will pass, no matter how many questions Cisco throws at you. I agree with Sparrow that there were many NEW questions that I was not expecting.

  47. Kill
    April 9th, 2013

    William Nel

    My strategy was as follows:

    1. Wendell Odom – OCG – Read the book

    a. Chapter by chapter

    b. Break up each chapter by headings.
Important – make notes after you have read each major section of a given chapter.

Take approximately two days for each chapter.
Your mileage will vary – so no hard and fast rule over here – but you need to understand as well as cover everything in a limited time period.

    c. Notes : –
    i. Things that stood out to you as important as in – ‘Ahhhhh is that so …’ or ‘ Ahhhhhhh so that’s how it is…’
ii. Things which you need clarification on / to follow up as in ‘Is that how it works ? I need to check it up later.’
iii. Important points from that section – ‘I need to remember this / I think this is important’. Not all sections will have these.

At the completion of the book you should end up with roughly 30 pages of back to back notes on A4 sheets. These are your final reference notes.

    2. GNS 3. If you can use it along with the book – excellent for all routing related stuff.

    3. Packet tracer – The only option for switches in absence of real switches.
I have not used it though.

Complete all the above around a week before the exam.

Give the following about 4 to 5 days.

Last one or two days – relax.

    4. The book has a CD. That CD has two very important resources:

    a. Test questions in appendix format with answers.
Complete these after you have completed the book. Time these with a stopwatch too.

    b. Simulator. Marvelous questions and simulations to check the readiness for exams.

    c. Finally – any free dumps from the web sites for practice.

Remember the 30 page notes – browse through these on the morning of the exam.

If you can cover all that, you can be assured –

One – you will know networking – that is why you want to clear the exam – right ?
Two – you will clear the exam with flying colors.

    Hard work pays.
    Take care.

  48. Kill
    April 9th, 2013

    Additionally:

    1. I want to clarify point 4c. Read the question. Solve it. Then check the answer.
DO NOT – read the question, read the answer and believe you have learned anything or will pass.
It doesn’t work that way in real life.

Passed with a 9XX on April 1st. 9tut is awesome for the SIMS. I got the Frame Relay in the CCNA Simulations section – Need to use the show interface ** command to see the individual interface information. I also received the VTP Sim.. Studied all the ICND2 sections questions from here and also used ExamCollection.com Anonymous.247q.vce. Studied about 8hrs a day for 2 weeks. Thank You to all who contribute to this site.

Passed yesterday 4/14/13 832. It was close
I used the Heavy Mod dump 90% accurate. Make sure you recognize ipv 6. I had 5-6 ipv6 quest.

    Sims:
    VTP Config
Hot spot OSPF (from ccna 9tut http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions)

    Drags & drop:
only had a couple. one was question 3 from drag & drop section 2

I could have used another day on the test engine. I also drew a couple blanks, and got questions wrong I should have had right. I finished the test with 30 min to spare. The daniels dump is pretty close to the heavy MOd dump, but the heavy Mod is easier to read. Good luck!! Off to CCNP

Took ICND 2 yesterday – 944/1000. Didn’t think I’d pass by that much.

    Used:

    CBTNuggets
    Lammle Study guide

    Saw:
VTP sim (the ICND 2 one)
    OSPF simlet
    Frame Relay simlet

Questions were across the board, so don’t focus on any one category.

  62. tunny cliff
    April 19th, 2013

I passed the ICND2 exam today with a score of 930. There were 45 questions in total of these questions I had 2 x Sims only – Frame Relay Sim and the VTP Sim.
I also had 1 x drag and drop which was Question 3 from the Drag & Drop Questions 2.

The rest of the questions were a selection of exact questions from the Cisco.Lead2Pass.640-816.v2013-03-25.by.HeavyMod.271q

I had 30 mins to spare at the end.

Very happy, now i dont need to worry about the CCNA changes in September 13, and can start on the Voice Certifications.

Thank you 9tut, this site is a very valuable resource and by far the best exam prep site on the net. Thank you to everyone for your postings and comments as this all prepared me for the exam.

Hey guys. Those that have taken the ICND1 exam, how often did you actually have to enter into the CLI and do some configuration during the ICND1 exam?

    Thanks!

Just took a test, and go no sims. Just one partial simlet that you didnt even need to run commands for. I’ve never seen a cisco test with no Sims before.

Wow.. That must have gone pretty smooth. I have been studying so much for the past 2 months, my head is swollen!

Took ICND2 on Friday – 26/4/2013, Had quite a few new questions and 1 new frame relay simulation as well, Passed with 958/1000 🙂 can’t it stress enough, you need to know the material and have a firm understanding of what they require you to do. On to CCNA Voice 🙂

@Caleb can you elaborate more on the new Frame Relay sim?

Anon, the new frame relay simulation, they give you a diagram of about 4 sites in a hub and spoke setup, then you have to configure the 1 point to point sub interface link, that’s what I got

@Caleb, thanks for the info, that actually sounds pretty easy. Congrats on the cert btw!

@Caleb, To figure it out did you just do a Show Run Interface on the serial and then see which sub-interface was listed with point-to-point after?

FINALLY! Passed and CCNA Certified once again. Thanks 9tut for the review; your site helped me focus so that I passed the test the 2nd time around. I will NEVER let my CCNA expire EVER again! On to the CCNP 😀

ICND 2 passed, got full CCNA, 9xx/1000, really happy with the score. VTP, frame relay sim was there with different IP’s.

VTP from memory was 192.168.xxx.63 <- the one you needed to configure ( it was first available on the management subnet, x.x.x.61 was default g/w . x.x.x.62 was the first building of the sim. the domain name was branch. Make sure to type in 'enable', i killed 10 minutes trying to figure out how to enter commands, everything else went like butter through knife from there on. IF you are unsure type in ? to list all available commands, which is what I did. ) Know your frame relay map commands. Also one of the commands was disabled in frame relay sim so I used ''show ip int sx/x'' or whatever the question asks you to look at. Know your IPv6 well ! Few drag and drops but nothing that this site didn't have! So have a look at those carefully ! I didn't do that well in WAN links but that was always the case, maybe have a revise over those if you have the time.

Thank you 9tut for your help greatly ( I studied for ICND2 for 1.5weeks , 9-14 hours a day. Theory is easy to remember, but the concepts for SIMs is something you have to understand) I hope this helps somewhat with future CCNA/ICND2 test-goers. Good luck everyone !

@Anonymous, that’s exactly what I did yes, just pointed it to the correct interface and that was it 🙂 just make sure you check the actual DLCI, cisco might change it.

Does anyone know how long it takes to receive your actual paper CCNA certificate once you pass the exam?

@Caleb what was the exact command? was it simply “show interface s0/0/0”, find out which one was using point-to-point, then get the dlci from that?

I passed ICND2 on 5/1 I had VTP sim and frame relay study 9tut and heavy mod 100 % on test and know OSPF.

@gigabyte Was “show frame-relay map” disabled? Also, what information were you looking for with the “show ip int sx/x”?

  97. Thank you

Passed today with a 9xx. I want to say thank you to everyone that works so hard to bring us 9tut.com. And to you all for posting problems and explanations to questions on the website. I used VCE and 9tut and of coarse the Cisco CCNA Manual. Thanks again everyone.

Taking test in 1 week, hitting the sims.
    Question,
Can you use the “do” command from global config on the exam ?

@Anonymous, “show frame-relay map” was working , it was the other command that wasn’t. From memory “show run” wasn’t working or I might’ve typed something wrong in, I was looking for default encapsulation for frame relay. Best of luck ! It explains it in the answer on 9tut pretty well.
