    my dear all, just got my icnd2 exam and passed it, thanks god , it was fair enough, about 75% were from the dumps manshi and acme
    the simulation i think the same ones like others (a strange ospf simlit, the VTP simulation )
    i wish the success for all of you

    @Emdubyoo,

    Could you please point out the questions you struggled with?
    What exactly was the VTP Sim talking about??
    Wasn’t it the same as the one on 9tut?

    @mos981

    Could you please try to remember the OSPF Simlet and atleast point out what areas you were to focus on to fix the network??
    What did you score and what are the areas where you thought questions were really tricky.
    Please help us all by sharing more.
    My exam is very shortly.

    dear matty, my score was 932 and about the ospf simlet it was not very hard, you have to get the Router ID from a list of connected routers which is very easy, another question was very hard, it was about the load distribution over ospf connection which i didnt see before
    i saw many new questions on the access-list whcih needs some understanding
    the rest of the exam was quiet easy
    i think anyone who solved the acme and mashti dumbs and saw the CBT Nuggets can go with the exam

    passed 2 hours ago , with 905 score ,
    75 % from manchi and acme dumps ,
    2 simlets on OSPF and frame relay , 1 Simulation VTP
    The OSPF simlet was kind of selly , Q1 about how many routes learned , Q2 how to configure load balancing :S , Q3 another 2 routers do they exchange hello packets , Q4 cant remmember

    VTP a switch needed to be configured with ip and default GW , u can get it from the another switch
    and change the vtp domain and mode

    the frame relay simlet >> sh frame-relay map is enough for the 4 questions

    another mcq i think i didnt get it right was about “dubugging rip process” and you have to find which route is in the routin table

    Im studying for the ICND2 exam now! can anyone tell me what area I should put more focus on, and where can I get some updated dumps for this exam?

    October 10th, 2010

    @EmDubyoo

    Sorry, but from I reading in your post… you are very LOST. Let’s assume that you pass… then what… you dont know basic stuff…. study… memorize… review…. review…. and review later the dumps to UNDERSTAND them… (why this is a bad answer…. why this is correct… etc) and then do it again….

    There is people that just pass the exam with dumps… without at least understanding the dumps…. just using the memory for the right answer…. and then in the field… they dont know shit… dont be one of those…. you can do better…

    Good Luck in your next exam!

    Hey Guys,

    I just finished creating the LATEST OSPF SIMLet.

    I did it from memory… could be wrong the layout… but the concept, questions and answers are the ones 😉

    I recall only 4 questions… if anyone recall more, please post. Enjoy!

    October 11th, 2010

    @Pipo

    In my defence, I have done the full week ICND2 course, and spent over 180 hours of extra studying, only about 20 of which were on exam questions from troytec just to see what they were like. I have not looked at the Mashti or Acme dumps.

    I have in the two days since the exam gone through where I went wrong. A lot of it was panicking in the exam, as I actually knew the stuff. I went home, wrote down all the questions from memory I didn’t know and have been researching the answers.

    I did poorly on Frame relays/Wans, rapid spanning tree and the VTP sim. All of my other marks were quite high. I am in the process of learning these again so I don’t make the same mistake. I actually know how to do the VTP sim now, but I still dont understand where to find the IP address information, or the management lan. So I am practising on creating my own lab with some switches and a router from work at home.

    Hey guys,
    I tried to replicate as much as posible the OSPF, still not 100% happy with the all answers. I want to replicate this on Packet Tracer to see the OSPF behavior, but for that I need a 100% accurate layout.

    If you remember, answer this…
    1.-On the layout, the switches shown an IP address?
    2.-The layout is right?
    3.-3 or 4 routers?
    4.-The area is right?

    Please let me know to work on it tonight.

    Thanks

    Just started doing IPV6 as the final chapter in the ICND 2 course…
    I thought that it will be a breeze to complete …low and behold I soon
    realised that I will have to pay full attention…I also noticed that that
    the scope on asking questions for IPV6 can be enormous…as there is many possible
    questions that can be asked…also from previous posts I read that there is 5-6 IPV6
    questions on the exam…now if that is the case then IPV6 makes up 10% of the exam
    So is it possible if the guys can post what ever IPV6 questions ..you would recommend..
    Also thanks bro for posting the packet tracer link above have not checked it
    yet but its most def no 1 on list of thngs to do….as I was not sure how to set up the
    cloud or isp side of frame relay …and it seems like that would do the trick

    Exam – 640-816 (ICND2) – Review by a test taker who passed on 12th October 2010
    Total Number of questions – 40 [38 questions + 2 sim questions(with 4 questions each)]
    Passmark Required – 825
    Time Alloted – 75 minutes
    Test Taker’s Pass Mark – 842 -Barely passed 🙂

    General Advice for the exam day –

    1. TIME is a big limiting factor as the 2 sims take a while to solve and they can come in any order, so you must know the topics discussed below in great detail. I was rushing through the questions in the end because I had 10 questions left and only 5 minutes remaining. This made me make some mistakes which I realised later. Luckily I passed.
    2. Get plenty of sleep before the exam day. Answering 40 questions in 75 minutes will require your full attention and if you brain is tired you will make mistakes. I had no sleep because I was too freaked out after reading everyones comments and made mistake on questions I thought I mastered. Do not let anyone scare you. Trust your own knowledge and preparation and you will pass4sure 🙂

    Study Resources –

    1. CBT NUGGETS are awesome for most of the stuff however there are some topics that are not discussed very well in these. For these sections you will need to refer to the WENDELL ODOM book. I will discuss this in the next section. For most of the stuff CBT Nuggets is enough. I went through each video 3-4 times by the time I was ready to give the exam. You must have deep understanding
    2. Get a cheap practice lab from EBAY to practice on real equipment if you can. If you can’t I advise you to use GNS3+DYNAMIPS or Mimic lab for CCNA. The version of MIMIC on rapidshare will only work on windows XP. To run GNS3 you need a lot of RAM and CPU, it bogs down your CPU. Either way you have to practice 5.
    3. Have self confidence and must know each topic in great detail before you book for the exam. Towards the end I was fairly confident that I will pass because my concepts on CORE TOPICs was clear having read CBT NUGGETS and the book.

    IMPORTANT TOPICS –

    Ok, Now let us start with discussing what type of questions are asked in the exam and what areas to focus on.

    1. SUBNETTING (VLSM & ROUTE SUMMARIZATION included) – This is one of the core topics of the exam, believe it or not. There are plenty of questions asked where you have to calculate NETWORK PORTION or HOST PORTION based on IP address provided.
    These questions may not be directly related to SUBNETTING but are asked in forms of NAT, ACL, VLSM or Route Summarization.
    It seems to be one of the most easy topics but you not just have to KNOW it but MASTER it so that you can just look at the SUBNET MASK and tell what the increment is, what the network portion of the address etc. within 20 seconds, so that you can then concentrate on the rest of the question.

    2. Switching – Atleast 25% of the exam questions are from this section – You must have thorough understanding of VLANs, VTP, STP, RSTP. Most of the concepts are well covered in CBT Nuggets except explanation on STP(and RSTP) for which I feel you will need to use WENDELL ODOM book. Just go through the KEY TOPICS marked in this book. Also go through all the questions from the book. They are really important. Switching is way easier than ROUTING and something you must master including all the commands for the above topics.

    3. ACL – 15% of the exam questions from here. Lots of DRAG and DROP questions. CBT NUGGETS is enough for preparing for this topic. Just do the questions from WENDELL ODOM book and this will give you some practice too.

    4. NAT – Definitely 2 questions from this in the exam. CBT Nuggets explains it very well. These questions have more % than the others and hence a very important topic. Just do the questions from WENDELL ODOM book and this will give you some practice too.

    5. Distance Vector and Link State Concepts, OSPF and EIGRP – 40% of the exam atleast and hence extremely important topic. They form the core of the exam. You must listen to CBT videos atleast3 times for these topics, Do the DUMP questions and then READ the book. YES..YES..YES.. you have to read the book for these topics unfortunately because CBT Nuggets has missed a lot of topics about concepts e.g. DR, BDR, Drothor in OSPF and Successor/Feasible Successor concepts for EIGRP, it is very important you read the question unless you understand all concepts inside and out.

    6. VPNs – No questions from here were this in the exam

    7. WANs – 20% of the exam questions are on topics related to PPTP, HDLC and Frame Relay. Most of the topics are well explained in CBT Nuggets. Just study a bit more about INVERSE ARP and DLCI from the Wendell Odom book. It really clears your concepts.

    8. IPv6 – I got 2 questions from this section in the exam. Really easy ones. All of them have been covered in the DUMP (see below) and http://www.9tut.com/ccna-ipv6. As a bonus do questions from the book as well. This topic is easy. No need to spend too much time on this.

    DUMPS –

    Dumps are extremely important as they clear your concepts and show you how much you actually know.
    Do not memorize the questions but understand each one of them, as you are unlikely to get exactly the same questions.
    I thought that 70% of my exam question was directly or indirectly from WINGET DUMPS. Download here – http://www.examcollection.com/cisco/Cisco.CertifyMe.640-802.v2010-08-03.by.Winget.360q.vce.file.html
    For those of you thinking that this is it, that’s all I need, i’m sorry, you cannot pass.
    You must know CONCEPTS and have PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE to be able to pass this exam.
    Practice is the key and you will just ACE it.

    My Actual Exam Question-

    LOL..Final one the one you were all waiting for.
    I have created a DOC file which has all questions that I got in my exam.
    I hope that you try to understand them rather than just memorizing them.
    I wish you all 1000 in the exam. Any questions I am available on 9tut.net
    Enjoy!!!

    Matty,

    Great post…! I have one concern regarding a question on your dump question. The last Sim question..

    question 4.

    If required, what password should be configured on the router in the MidEast office to allow a connection to established with Dubai Router?

    Answer: T1net

    I have been using How2pass and that answer comes up as “no password required”.

    How did you determine that answer?

    What kind of Lab did you get?

    Congratulation on you passing exam…!

  31. dude
    October 12th, 2010

    @ITGEEK: if a midwest connection is PPP you need to do show run to get the password if it’s default (hdlc) you prolly need no password

    @ Bluedogs
    Congratulations! Were your sim/simlets similar to your first attempt?

  34. Matty
    October 13th, 2010

    @ITGeek

    Dude is right, but there are 2 ways to confirm this. You must know both ways.

    First the Concept –

    1. HDLC is a dumb protocol with no features like Authentication etc. PPP on the other hand has Authentication features.

    2. By default if an interface is configured as HDLC you will not see it in running-config because “REMEMBER THE GOLDEN RULE OF CISCO IOS”- anything that has a default setting will not show up in running-config

    Now there are 2 ways to confirm. I recommend the first method –

    1. Issue a #show interface command. This will list details of all the connected interfaces. Look for the interface which has the words “encapsulation: HDLC”. This is the interface that doesn’t require a password to connect because HDLC supports none.

    2. Method 2 – Like “dude” mentioned above issue a “#show run” command. and if no encapsulation is mentioned in the interface section then that interface is using CISCO DEFAULT which is HDLC.

    Let me know if any more questions.

    @everyone

    I know that this VTP SIM (http://www.9tut.com/ccna-lab-sim/80-ccna-vtp-sim-question) is the most talked about SIM, but it was not there in my exam even though I prepared very properly for this. Im wondering if people were discussing about their 640-802 exam. Definitely wasn’t in the 640-816 exam.

    Hi Guys.
    Today passed without problem ( 975).
    Many thanks for 9tut, Matty, Dude, and everybody who shared experience in this site.
    I agree on 99% percent with Matty.
    Many thanks for you help Matty. 70 % questions from your folder.
    Really I found 3 new questions. All other questions I saw in Dumps use to be or recently.
    So almost all questions was for me familiar.
    From my side dumps valid on 90% (all dumps mentioned on this site). Peoples read dumps more carefully!!! And don’t complain if you-all didn’t check all stuff closely or I am vey lucky guy today.

    My entire question mentioned Matty. I will not repeat same.
    Study Resources:
    1. Cisco CCNA 3 and 4 parts (Cisco Press).
    2. CBT nuggets.
    3. Boot camp (1 week) (Was very cool.) (long-long time ago).
    4. Boson NetSem (good for experience with CLI).
    5. Small job experience with Switches and routers.
    6. Finally DUMPs, DUMPs, DUMPs!!!

    Good luck for everybody!!!

    Miko,

    What kind of labs did you get?

  42. Paul
    October 13th, 2010

    Well I looked over many of the latest dumps and there were plenty of questions I had never seen before – over half. Fortunately I had a good understanding of the concepts so i did better than I thought I might – but I ran out of time with 5 questions to go and just about failed. The two simulations were VTP (setting the new switch) and applying IP addresses to interfaces. There was a frame relay testlet, (questions based on the DLCI values). Both the Frame relay testlet and VTP Simulation were on Matty’s question list above.

    @EmDubyoo,

    Everything is in the LINK provided at the bottom of my comment. Please refer to that. Lots of users have already confirmed to me that the questions were from that link. See “MIKOs” comments above

  44. Miko
    October 14th, 2010

    @ ITGeek Same labs.
    1) VTP (2 switches, Solution- 1-st Switch: sh run; sh vtp status) 2-st Switch – vtp domain name, vtp mode client; ip def-gataway; int vlan van1; ip address; copy run startup) ping d-g; sh vtp status. (http://www.4shared.com/file/07XNtFkV/vtlate.html)
    2) frame-relay (same from 9tut- with 4 questions- 2times- sh run; 2 times- sh frame-relay map)
    3) OSPF simlet- 4 questions (http://www.4shared.com/file/PL_iSUsL/NewOSSim.html)
    I remember only 1 new questions- they changed Drag and drop with LSA; Split horizon; Poison reverse and Hold down timer- they removed from list LSA and add 2 new colons with Triggered update and something else, so for me it was new and probable I made mistake with this Drag and drop.
    Good luck!

    Hi mav.
    Was not in my exam ACL and NAT labs.
    Just several standart questions from ACL and Nat which present on dumps (Mashti and Acme- for example).
    From my side I can advice before exam (few days) more focus on Dumps.

  47. ITGeek
    October 14th, 2010

    Thanks Miko,

    I notice that there’s not a lot of people getting any OSPF or EIGRP labs.

  48. Matty
    October 14th, 2010

    @mav,

    You are starting a new discussion again. It has been discussed severeal times already – which dump is best etc. etc.. Please read my comments above. Winget is the best according to me but MASHTI and ACME are also good…Follow my advice and you will be good.
    No need to buy P4S or any other stuff. Just thoroughly understand the concepts and do the WINGET DUMPS and you will PASS.

  49. Charles
    October 14th, 2010

    Alright, I barely managed to pass this exam with 825, lol.

    However, my score should have been higher.

    One of the questions tells you to set up an ip address and default gateway address on the east switch (you know the one).

    Anyway I configured the switch with the appropriate ip address and vtp domain info, but it wouldn’t accept my default gateway address command.

    This is what I tried to do but it rejected it (ip address shown is just and example address):

    east(config)#int vlan 1
    east(config)#ip address 192.60.50.62 255.255.255.224
    east(config)#no shut

    east(config)#ip default-gateway 192.60.50.33 ***

    Now the sim wouldn’t accept this command right here (the one marked with the ***)

    I know this is a valid command as I’ve done it hundreds of times on labs and packet tracer, and it’s always worked. However in this sim, it refused to accept that command; giving me the error message that it wasn’t a valid command.

    What gives? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  50. Charles
    October 14th, 2010

    Also, is there any way I can bring this up with Cisco? I know that command works.

  51. hey
    October 15th, 2010

    Maybe you forgot to exit one level and you were on the interface configuration of VLAN1… and you tried to set it up that in there?

    east(config)#int vlan 1
    >>>east(config-if)#ip address 192.60.50.62 255.255.255.224
    >>>east(config-if)#no shut
    >>>east(config-if)#ip default-gateway 192.60.50.33 ***

    Gotta be:
    east(config)#ip default-gateway 192.60.50.33 ***

  52. Charles
    October 15th, 2010

    That’s where I’m confused, when it’s on (config-if) in packet tracer, I can set it up, but it wouldn’t let me do it in the actual exam sim.

    Maybe you’re right. I wish I could test it out.

  53. W
    October 15th, 2010

    The correct syntax is that:

    east(config)#int vlan 1
    >>>east(config-if)#ip address 192.60.50.62 255.255.255.224
    >>>east(config-if)#no shut
    >>>east(config-if)#exit ======> (You misses this command)
    >>>east(config-if)#ip default-gateway 192.60.50.33 ***

    The default gateway must configured from Global configuration mode… not from the interface interface configuration mode.

  54. Matty
    October 15th, 2010

    @Charles and others who commented –

    Let’s not get confused.
    Charles, if you are setting up an IP address on the switch, it should be done from VLAN1 interface subcommand.
    If you are setting up a default-gateway it should be done in GLOBAL CONFIGURATION prompt i.e

    east#conf t
    east(config)#ip default-gateway 192.60.50.33
    east(config)#int vlan 1
    east(config-if)#ip address 192.60.50.62 255.255.255.224

    It is hard for me to believe that PACKET TRACER allows you to set the default gateway from VLAN interface subcommand. If it does, it maybe an old IOS version in use.
    You do not have a case against CISCO because what you did was incorrect as per IOS 12.3

    Im resitting this next friday. Hopefully I will get a bit more luck with the questions this time.

    Im fully prepared on sims, including the new vtp one which I froze up on last time.

    Configure the default gateway before going into the vlan, as the default gateway applies to the whole switch. Thats how I intend on doing it if it comes up again anyway!

    Thank you guys for clearing up my confusion. I’ll definitely remember that next time I take a test or begin working on a switch in the field. Once again, thank you.

    passed with a score 905. a lot of the questions came from the 640-802 and 640-801 dumps. even the drag and drops. got the vtp, frame relay and ospf. i used actual test. Good luck guys

    hi, please help.

    gateway 192.60.50.33
    sw1 int 192.60.50.61
    With the VTP sim, which ip address would you assign to vlan 1 on switch 2 192.60.50.62 or 192.60.50.34 ? 62 looks right as the other end of the link is .61 but if the question asks for first available address in the range then it should be .34 . I suppose both would work but only one would score the marks..

    I took the test 3 hrs ago and failed by only by 2%, gutted, your right Matty do not rely on pass4sure only had about 5 questions from that, back to the drawing board, OSPF sim, Frame Relay and VTP lab, 9tut drop /drag ACL and OSPF,EIGRP all valid. Thanks guys for all the advice, its all really good.

    @confused,

    you will assign the second available IP address on VLAN1 as teh first available is already in use by the default-gateway. I mucked up this one in my exam and was so confused that I ended up setting the IP address to be same as DG. I knew what I was doung was incorrect but I thought I will just do whatever they ask in the question. The correct answer is second IP address on VLAN1.

    @mav,

    Follow my guide and also the exam questions I prepared and you will pass. Please do not rely on any dumps. Practice on real lab equipment or simulations and you will pass.

    @jtime,

    I am happy to hear that I contributed towards someone success.

    Today 10/16/2010 I passed my 816 exam with 838. As you can see I passed it by 13 points but I had at least 35 minute left on the clock. There were new question on the test that I never seen before but meanly VTP Lab, Frame Relay Sim, 3 drag & drop from 9tut.net. Make sure you know about NAT and the IPv6 question on this website 9tut.com is enough to study for the IPv6.

    I can answer any question…!

  64. Hey

    @Hey,

    Do not freak out by what other say..no questions have changed but if you are just relying on DUMPS to pass the exam you are bound to fail. I have spent a lot of time in explaining everyone about what areas they need to concentrate on. If you do that you will pass. I do not believe that in 3 days of giving my exam all of a sudden lots of new questions have been born.
    Ofcourse, there will be some new questions but if your preparation is correct, you will pass.

    October 17th, 2010

    Hey,

    The same VTP sim the guys were talking about:

    You have 2 switches and one of them needs to be setup with a ip address, default-gateway, VTP client, VTP domain.

    It was about %70 of Matty question was on the exam. Also, make sure you study every drag & drop that is in 9tut, NAT and the IPv6 question that is in 9tut.com.

    Identify what type of device is in port fa0/3 by the show Mac-Address-table command.

    A)PC
    B)switch
    C)Router
    D)Layer 3 Switch

    The command “show mac-address-table” was typed for you and all you have to do is to identify what type of device is connected to port fa0/3.

    Other question was about NAT but those question was not in the dumps.

    Make sure you study:

    NAT, drag & drops in 9tut.net, IPv6 in 9tut.com, VTP sim, Frame-Relay, and the basic concept.

    I wish you good luck…!

    October 18th, 2010

    the show mac-address table is asking from which device did the switch learn these mac-addresses
    and in logic you see many same mac addresses from same port
    ex: fa1/0 mac-address 00:00:00:11:22:33
    ex fa1/0 mac-address 00:00:00:11:33:44

    means the switch has learnt the mac addresses from another switch obviously because they can’t be learnt from a router bcuz router would forward it’s own mac-address.

    so it’s pretty easy indeed.

    just passed ICND2 with 865,

    pretty much the same as matty said above, had FR sim, STP 2 sim and the new OSPF sim.
    few drag and drops from 9tut site.

    thanks 9tut and mashti and acme for the help.

  80. chris
    October 19th, 2010

    yeh guys it was the FR simlet, so i used sh FR map and sh run pretty much

    @ Donut, if you refer to Sergios post higher up on the page(posted on oct-11), he has kindly provided 2 sims that i am refering to, the OSPF one and the newer STP one, the ospf one is just a simlet while the VTP sim, you have to setup a new switch as VTP mode client and add the domain and setup the vlan info, the 2 files from sergio will explain everything.
    good luck.

    Thanks Sergio by the way.

    October 21st, 2010

    @gillman,

    On the DUBAI router, you will execute the command “Show frame relay map”.
    This will show the destination DLCI number mapped to that IP Address.
    Remember that DLCI is always local to the interface and in this case local DLCI 702 is associated with 172.30.0.4 on remote network.

    I copied this question from another website and obviously the explanation was done by someone else. What they are trying to say is that Q1 has a typo in the IP Address field. Thats all.

    In the actual exam, this was asked as a SIM and you had to execute “sh frame relay map” yourself

    @Matty

    cheers for the reply just trow another one at you. on Question 4 the frame-relay sim is the answer really the vty password used for telnet or is it “no password required”. I would be inclined to go with no password required. A badly worded question on cisco behalf..

  92. Donut

    ya whats the acl2 ?please respond soon lol i write in a matter of hours

  93. Matty
    October 21st, 2010

    @gillian

    I have already explained this on PAGE 5 before but here you go again –

    There are 2 ways to confirm this.

    2. Method 2 – Issue a “#show run” command. and if no encapsulation is mentioned in the interface section then that interface is using CISCO DEFAULT which is HDLC.

    Let me know if any more questions.

    tsk tsk tsk..

    most of you guys are failing bcoz ur taking it in hurry..

    u can pass all the exam in cisco if u will study hard on it..

    @advice

    You have given the right advice.
    Yes guys the MICROSOFT EXAMS (if you are coming from that background), are easy to pass by doing DUMPS. Not CISCO. you need to apply the logic. Please read my earlier comments on the topics you need to master. Page-5

  98. EmDubyoo
    October 22nd, 2010

    Back at work now. Passed with 919 this morning.

    I got the VTP sim, OSPF simlet and the Frame Relay simlet. Exactly the same as last time, so I was well prepared. Of the other questions, only about 7 were on dumps I have read. [Acme, Mashti and Troytec] I think the actual time I spent reading the material helped more.

    Basically if you know the topic, you can eliminate all the wrong answers anyway, so you don’t need dumps, although knowing the answers for a few questions early on really helped with my nerves.

    One thing to look out for was a new drag and drop. I don’t remember all the choices, but it was a varient of the Split Horizon/Poison reverse one I have seen.
