I passed today with 937. This was my second attempt after failing by 17 point last time (before finding this site). What a relief I finally passed.

All of the sims I had were on this site. I think I was quite lucky actually as I got the implementation 1 sim rather than the more in depth implementation 2 sim. I also got the security sim and the drag and drops that are on here.

I’d say 70-80% of the questions are on the VCE dumps, so have a good study of these.

I had a tricky wireless AP authentication question that threw me a little. It was after two authentication methods that AP’s can use. The choices were AES, TKIP, SSID, and a couple of others I can’t remember.

Thanks for this great site and the helpful hints from other exam takers.

Does anyone have the VCE reg code?

I’m currently studying for my ICND1 exam and downloaded all the exam sim you’ve pasted on this link but I’m only getting 5 questions out of 200-800 questions.

I would truly appreciate all the help and a very wonderful site to discover.

    Thanks in advance!

    Guys,

Passed CCENT with a 874/1000 on the 23rd.

Thx to 9tut for the sims and drag and drop questions.
PacketTracer is a good tool to use for learning/practicing CLI.

80% of the latest VCE dumps are on the test. Go over them, but insure you know what you are doing, not just dumping the answer into your head.

Know how to subnet, as it is used in a variety of different ways to answer test topics.

    On to CCNA.

    Hello.

I am going to take the exam soon. So far, I am prepared, but I just encountered a question which answer I am not sure about. There is an output of a routers routing table and you have to define its function referring to the output.

i know that it has to be a stub router, but i’d also like to be sure about the reason. The output shows that there seem to be two networks connected to serial 0/0. As far as I know this has to be the reason. Am I right?

  6. nagamin
    March 28th, 2011

    You might miss something.
In front of those netwroks must be R or C in output.
C mean Connected network and R mean Remote network.
    That’s what I’m guess.

  7. Dave
    March 29th, 2011

    Hello Nagamin,

    thanks for your reply.

    The output shows:

    172.16.0.0/24 is subnetted, 1 subnets
    C 172.16.1.0 is directly connected, Ethernet 0/1
    10.0.0.0/30 is subnetted, 1 subnets
    C 10.255.255.200 is directly connected, Serial 0/0
    S* 0.0.0.0/0 is directly connected, Serial 0/0

Since both networks connect directly to Serial 0/0, the router seems to have the role of a remote stub router.

I am not sure about the reason, so I would be glad for getting an explanation. In the Cisco Press ICND1 Book there is nothing mentioned about that stuff.

  8. nagamin
    March 29th, 2011

    S* 0.0.0.0/0 is directly connected, Serial 0/0
it is static route on that interface. It is logical route, not physically connected.
    C 172.16.1.0 is directly connected, Ethernet 0/1
    C 10.255.255.200 is directly connected, Serial 0/0
    are physically connected.
when you excute the command “sh ip route” router will show code for that perfix.
S mean static and * mean canditate default.

Have pass my ICND1 todaywith 875 minimum score 804/1000 on a scale from 300 to 1000, sim lab was :

    https://www.9tut.net/icnd1/labsim/show-configuration-sim
    https://www.9tut.net/icnd1/icnd1-security-testlet
    lot of question about subnetting

associate definition for DHCP, telnet, DNS etc…

    thank’s tut9

  11. Dave
    March 29th, 2011

    Thanks for the link, Nagamin..

It seems like I overlooked, that the network 10.255.255.200 /30 seems to contain the point-to-point connection between the stub and the distribution router(am I right?Tell me.)

This is, why the default route is also on serial 0/0. Because the internet is reachable over the distribution router? I hope I am not that wrong.. :/

  12. nagamin
    March 29th, 2011

Yes, that’s why router shows two nets in one interface.
    C 10.255.255.200 is directly connected, Serial 0/0 => ISP
S* 0.0.0.0/0 is directly connected, Serial 0/0 => default route

  13. Dave
    March 29th, 2011

    Well, Nagamin.

I am really glad that I seem to have it.

There is one last thing about the terminology referring to the three-layer model. Am I right by maintaining that the so-called distribution router would be the edge router of the ISP where the point-to-point connection is subscribed?

    March 29th, 2011

Hi Friends, I want to thanks all of you and special thank to 9tut.net
    I passed it today 937.
There are some new questions. The sims are as here but in different subnets and IP but the procedures are the same.
The security questions were the hardest part for me but I git 100%, so please just notice that the login message is not a threat neither in the router nor in the switch.
No login – 5 simultaneous telnet and such a things are the threats just use show run and every thing with a little patient will be fine (Actually I spent 20 mins just on security part) but I finished the exam after 1:10 Hour, so don’t be nervous if you study the official book + Dumps + 9tut.net you will pass %100 hopefully (Insha’allah = If god wants).

  16. xfall
    March 29th, 2011

Yousef: When you say log in message is not a threat, meaning you did not see the welcome msg this time?

Also what dump did you use if you dont mind me asking

    Thanks

  17. nagamin
    March 30th, 2011

Yah, message is there, but it is not the threat.
no router VTY line was no login with encrypted password. That is threat.
Than username was ciscouser and password was cisco, that is very weak for security meansure. But make sure you realy understand what the question mean. choice is never be same.
One more is gateway was configure on switch. that is for remote administartion. you will see 3 router, 2 switch and 2 pc.pc was connect to each switch and connected to distribution router.

  18. Yousef
    March 30th, 2011

Yes, the login messege is there but it is not a threat because you see it after being in enable mode so it is not a threat. you can’t pass by just using the dumps because for example I had a question said in transport layer which protocol is best effort? absolutely it is UDP, but if u just used to read the dumps without knowing why the correct answer is correct you will select IP.
    I used:
    Cisco.CertKey.640-822.v2011-01-15.by.CCENT.246q
    Cisco.CertifyMe.640-822.v2010-07-31.by.Ariel.237q
    Cisco.AcutalTests.640-822.v2010-07-20.by.Robbie.360q

But you should read 9tut as well and understand what you are doing. the procedure in sims is the same but different IPs and Subnets, so learn subnetting and be quick.

BTW, I took it in Canada.

    Good Luck

    I failed again 662/804.

I don’t understand what I am doing wrong, I knew all of the questions. They were word for word off of this website. I have read all the books, gone through all the dumps, I have 5 years experience, and a degree in computer science. I am going to lose my job over some silly certification. I plan on calling Cisco and PearsonVue to figure out what exactly I am doing wrong.

Hi guys, just passed the exam today. I got 887 I thought I got more right anyway…

The Security sim is the same as in the site, as other folks have said before, the banner is not the right answer. I also got 2 more SIM one for the CDP neighbors and the other from a small network with one router, one switch and access to the internet.
The D.O.R.A for the DHCP was in the test, a plenty of subnetting questions. Also the “drag and drop” for DHCP, DNS, Collaboration, Internet Browser, Database and Email.

The VCE from Ariel is really accurate, I also used CBT Nuggets, but after I finish the exam I had the feeling that prepare to the Exam and master the skills to manage Cisco devices are two things completly different. Most of us know how to setup an small to big network. But the way I see they (Cisco) try their best to trick you. They should allow some try and error, because that’s how in real life. If you have a bad ethernet cable, you will try many things that is not like, a-) change the cable, b-) is a layer one issue and so on. Anyways, that’s just my opinion, thanks guys, thanks 9tut, I started studing for the exam in January but I was not feeling confident after I can to this site, I was ready to take the exam. Passing or not, the site gave me the push I was needing. Bryan don’t give up man, you can do it!!!!
Cisco wants our money no matter how you look at it, but that’s their game.

    Sid.

hey guys I’m going to take my exam on 7th april ! Preparing was long with CBT Nuggets Train Signal (Chris Bryant) Sybex Todd Lammle CCENT book and Cisco Press (Wendell Odom) ! A lot of practice with RIP,VLANs,static and default route, show commands, cdp,SUBNETING, and etc. ! I prepared for this about 3 months ! Yesterday I take a few VCE exams (Ariel and other with newer update) and I can say that I answer about 200 questions of 237 πŸ™‚ I am confident in my knowledge but I’m lil bit scared ! this is my first exam ! I finished my CCNA exploration program and I know a lot of this before I started to learn! Do you have any recommendation ?

    Hi Guyz,

I just took the ICND2 exam for the second time and PASSED.
Thanks to everyone. this forum was really helpful. most of the question raised here came out on the exam.

My advice: know the material well; go through all the sim here and go through the latest VCE exam.
Run a couple of sim practice test at least 2 hours before the exam, and you should be good.

    Good luck to all

Passed ICND1 this morning 912/1000. Had the security question and the Implementation SIM. I really took my time on the questions and had no problem finishing with time left over, so don’t worry about time, read the complete question and relax. 90% of my questions can be found in the Drag & Drops and SIMS along with the P4S VCE. I used the Cisco Press ICND1 book (McQueery) but I would recommend the book written by Wendell Odom. The book I read was not all that great. Good luck and relax, you can do it!

I passed today with 912. Had no CLI config sim questions. Rather of had that than security testlet. According to Cisco the MOTD banner is only “inappropriate” when used with EXEC and VTY logins. Also MOTD may be inappropriate when you telnet in with SSH since the banner which said welcome in the exam would show up after you log in as per Cisco. With just plain telnet it shows up before you log in.

    Good luck to all.

  40. few new questions onexam
    April 16th, 2011

I took and failed, I didn’t prepare for subnet thinking they aren’t as important. I used pass4sure for first time, thought ips would be same and didn’t learn subnetting. anywyas, few new questions that aren’t on any testking/pass4sure etc are below. If someone know correct answer do give your input

Router runs into Setup mode, Why… did someone type SETUP,, how can you run 2 ways
NV RAM Damaged why is it asking for Setup config

there is a Router the Two Chained Switches then host B, on the other side Router A 2 chained switches than Host At, it asks you why do you need Gateway on Switch? For Routing traffic to hosts? for management etc?

Need to expand network with 300-500 hosts, select what you need 48 routers, 48 hubs, 1 router with 1 Interfacce or 1 Router with 48 Interfaces.

How to resume a telnet session connection/reconnect? The log shows Telnet Session 1 details and *Telnet 2 Session details, how do you Resume Telnet session2???? choices were Reconnect, or Resume.. and two other choices…. How do you resume?

Ping fails first time and 100% and it works the Second time with 100% reply, what could be the Cause? Congesttd Network, wrong speed etc?

The Most Famous Question about Security ..Welcome Message on Router, Passwords , VTY NO login, I don’t know the Right answer but I selected Password VTY NO login issue and unencrypted password… I got 100% on security.. so not sure if I was right.

One thing though, Make sure you know Subnetting inside out. Most questions, including config are based on it.

    April 17th, 2011

Hi All, Just wanted to give a shout out to 9tut. Took ICND1 today and passed with 812. The CDP neighbors simulation lab was on it. KNOW THE PROTOCOLS, such as TFTP and how its assoicted with the OSI model. They throw lots of trick questions on this. Also review flash memory and IOS naming conventions. Not to much security was asked. I used EXAMCRAM book and Wendel Odum study guide as well as simulators from Pearson. Thanks Again 9tut!!!

  43. DBC
    April 19th, 2011

    9tut you rule,
I took the exam yesterday and passed with 904.
Subnetting is the key to pass the exam. Read here on 9tut the sims.
If you know subnetting , it is easy to do the sims even when they change the ip ranges. I also got the security issue on the exam. I did not see with #sh run , the banner as a threat. The threat was the ciscouser en the password. No login on the VTY. Also I got a lot of drag en drop questions.
DORA, TFTP and copy command , example copy TFTP FLASH when replacing the IOS at startup. Also got the :
*RIP *A PC with IP address 10.1.5.10 must access the Internet
*ARP *Only routers and servers require static IP addresses, Easy IP admin required
*NAT *A PC knows a server only as Mediaserver// but requires an IP address
*DNS *A protocol is needed to replace current static routes with auto route updates
    *SQL
    *DHCP
Know how DHCP works en know how packages go through the networks. Scr. and dest. Mac and scr. and dest. Ip.
Know with cables to use, easy to memorize is
Group1: Server, PC, Server = cross
    Group2:Hub,Switch = cross
Combine one of the 2 groups then it’s straight.
When you take the exam you get 15 min to read the acceptance. Use the 15 minutes to write down subnet table. Write down the table of 2 ,4,8,16,32,12. Write down the binaire subnet so you can count them when the subnet is given in binair. It is the little things that can help when taking the exam. Because you will fight against the time.
I have read the p4s learning quide and practice with QandA of P4S
CBT NUGGETS , it really helps. Watch minimal 2 times and practise the subnetting.
And offcourse 9tut it’s important because they explain so well.
One tip is use Package tracer. Build it at the same time when the teacher is building in CBT. I know you will pass the exam then.
This is my 3e time I took the exam. Out of experience I can say the only learning the QandA will not help you pass the exam. When they change the subnet everything changes. When you understand the sims and subnetting. I does not matter when they change the subnet or router interfaces, you know your stuff so you will pass.
Read the questions good , they will trick you by example not set a defaultgateway in the grafic or cider notation. You will focus on that and the problem is that the serial interfaces are not in the same subnet !
I want to thanks everybody who have given input on this site and offcourse 9TUT many thanks.
Now INCD2 to get the CNNA

    Hello All,
pleased to meet you. I am new to this site and forum.
I have been preparing for ICND1 for about 3 weeks now. I have no experience in networking neither with cisco router, however I know subnetting very well from my MCSA 2003 and MCTS 2008 certification.
For my studies I am using CBT nuggets, Cisco Official book, Bryan Advantage, Boson Practice Test, Boson CCENT network simulator and 9 Tut.
I am really enjoying studying this. I think I will be ready to do the test by July and hopefully I can make it at 1st attempt.
I find this site and the users very helpful.
How many questions in this ICND1 exam? how much time do do you have?
I’ve heard of many people struggling with time in cisco exams.
    Best Regards.

    Welcome Spainvasion.
Total of 40 -50 in ramdom question and you will get 75 min to 90 min.
If you come from MCSA you will not hard itme in subnet calculation. I suggest you to work with Cisco packet tracer. For CCNA Packet Tracer will save your time and money.
Look for Train Signal CCNA or TestOut CCNA.

Thanks 9tut and all of you guys who posted yours comments etc.

The security sim was on the exam, i got 100 % on security, the banner message is not the answer for both the switch and the router.I chose the weak password and the more than vty line 5 silmultaneous answer.

The key for passing the exam is go through all the 9tut questions, practice subnetting everyday.

Subnetting is the key to passing this exam.About 40 % of the exam was on subnetting.

Also, it didn’t really go too much into subnetting… You still really need to know how to do it, but I mostly had /28 mask questions.

    Passed today with a 937.

Had the scurity testlet, DHCP drag and drop. Show cdp neighbor sim,

Going through 9tut and how2pass for about 5 days was enough to get me through the exam though my prior work history certainly didn’t hurt either.

could you guys explain how those question (Ftp, Snmp, Tftp, Telnet) appear on exam?

  66. xallax
    May 14th, 2011

    it’s drag and drop.
you have a few boxes on the left side that say something like FTP, SMTP, TFTP, Telnet, HTTP, SNMP, POP3
and you have a few boxes on the right side that say something like:
    – used to transfer files
    – used to save device configuration file
    – used to transfer hypertext
    – used to get information from network devices
    – used to send mail
    – used to connect to remote stations
    – used to store mail

and you must select a box on the left side and drag it over a box on that right side that corresponds to its description.

    Hi guys,
please correct me if I am wrong.
Regarding xallax explanation to drag and drop question.
SNMP – this will be the protocol to send email and POP3 the protocol that stores the email?
    Thanks

  68. xallax
    May 15th, 2011

    hey
no, SMTP is for sending mail, SNMP is for network management. glad you asked πŸ™‚

    Hi to all,

I took my exam today and pass with a score of 925, subnet is a must in here, I use a table which a memorize and it helps me a lot! I got the security sim on my test, not pretty sure about my answers but got a 100% on the security part so i guess, I got all the questions correct. What I used to study:

    CBT Nuggets
    Pass4sure

    Hi All.

Passed my ICND1 today with an 899! Woot! A HUGE thanks to everyone here at this site. You all helped me get over that last hump.

    To everyone getting ready to test;

    SUBNETTING. You HAVE to know this like the back of your hand. If your having trouble, or if you can do the problems but it takes you longer then 20 seconds in your head, try this thread. It REALLY helped me;

    http://www.techexams.net/forums/ccna-ccent/38772-subnetting-made-easy.html

I got that stupid security sim and pretty sure I failed that one. A couple other sims from here. What I used to study:

Wendell Odom Official Exam Cert Guide
    Todd Lammle
    Packet Tracer 5.3

Thanks to all and good luck!

    May 25th, 2011

I wanted to just comment on how useful 9tut was. I was very surprised at the accuracy of advise on the questions. I did however fail the test today with a 787, but think if I would have looked at this site and some of the sims sooner I would have passed. The one thing that I would recommend is that no one used the element k self study. That has to be the worst training out there and very little of the material to none of that was on the test. Stick with packet tracer and CBTs they seems to have a lot more info that was related to the test.

I’ll try to rephrase few ICND1 questions that I met.
    1. What IP address Class can provide access to 66,000 hosts.
    (a),b,c,d,e

    2. Had to choose 2 authentication methods used in WiFi from the list of various protocols.

    Hi guys,
I just passed the icnd1 test 937 with 30 minutes left. It was not so difficult as I thought, given that you understand the materials. I got implementation sim but with some different ip addresses, show config sim, security testlet, dnd (dora), and some other questions on subnetting. You must know how to calculate subnet, mask… Good luck to the other guys who are going to take the test and thanks 9tut.

    June 4th, 2011

    Hi guys!
Passed my ICND1 with 925. I had security testlet, “cdp nei” lab and “show config” lab. Tab and “?” were available.

The banner in secur testlet was like this: “Welcome to Router/Switch! Blablabla contact to your local admin…” I didn’t select that (and have 100% for security question).

    Next: 4 or 5 drag&drop’s – Collabaration,DNS,E-mail,Database; ARP,PING,DHCP,Telnet; DORA; and something else.

Also 3 or 4 questions about WLAN.
About 40% of questions are subnetting.

    Used to prepare:
    Odom ICND1
    Boson
GNS3 (not necessary, because icnd1 is not hard imho) but i used.
    2960 switches on the work.
    9tut sims and forums.

    Thanks all!

Excusez moi for my freaking english, my native language is russian.

Just got back from the exam. Passed with 987, think I only missed one. Used Odom’s ICND1 book and supplemented that with CBT Nuggets video series to fill in the gaps. Used various dumps and packet tracer for creating my own labs. Plus, I’m already in the industry so I had a pretty solid foundation prior to picking this up. Good luck to all. Now on to knocking out ICND2.

Hey just passed my ICND1 today with 899. Not as good as ARRRGGGHHH up there but Im just glad I got it on my first try.

Had the same drag and drops as Drunk Bear with the addition of one that dealt with passwords (enable secret, service password, etc)

I had 4 sims 3 of which were are listed in the labsim section of this site.

I used the CCNA Exploration books, a couple different dumps Cisco Press CCNA Portable Command Guide (very helpful), and of course 9tut. Thanks 9tut and everyone else that has contributed.

    Hi all.

    What does DORA mean?
I prepare my ICDN1 and it seems like queastions are similar but not the same exactly. I use CBT, Exploration, Discvovery and Lammle to learn technology at fist. Never heard for DORA until I read this blog. Please advise.

  97. Drunk Bear
    June 9th, 2011

DORA means dhcpDiscover, dhcpRequest, dhcpOffer, dhcpAck (dhcppack)

  98. Drunk Bear
    June 9th, 2011

sorry right sequence: dhcpDiscover, dhcpOffer, dhcpRequest, dhcpAck (dhcppack)

  99. Anonymous

“1) Client makes a UDP Broadcast to the server with a DHCPDiscover, or Discover packet.

    2) DHCP offers to the client.
The server sends a DHCPOffer including other configuration parameters (DHCP Options) for the client per the servers configuration file

    3) In response to the offer Client requests the server.
The client replies DHCPRequest, unicast to the server, requesting the offered address.

4)The server sends DHCPAck acknowledging the request which is the clients final permission to take the address as offered. Before sending the ack the server double checks that the offered address is still available, that the parameters match the clients request and (if so) marks the address taken.”

I have some workbooks that I think might be helpful to people working on the ICND1 and 2. The are in .pdf and no copyright. Its there somewhere I can post them here? One is for subnetting another for VLSM and the last one is for ACLs.
